Posted August 4, 2024Aug 4 29th July 2024 It's a return to the top spot for Juice Newton's 1981 top 20 cover of Angel Of The Morning which returned after Deadpool showcased the track in 2016, and grabbed one week on top. 8 years later Juice grabs a second week on top for the UK flop and much covered song, but one which has never made the UK top 20 except in a rewritten version from Shaggy. And from the new Deadpool & Wolverine film the 1938 song I'll Be Seeing You shows it's quality in the Jimmy Durante cover from a 1964 album. Billie Holliday had the famous version but Jimmy has had posthumous revivals before, notably Make Someone Happy in 1996. Jimmy was a beloved entertainer known as Schnoz for his big nose, comedy and eccentric style of singing which shouldnt work, yet does. I loved him growing up, not least for his fun cameo in the then all-star monster comedy movie It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World, and this is Jimmy's 3rd chart "hit" here. James get their 2nd top 20 of the 2020's for at least a dozen over the last 4 decades, and the highest new entry comes from Tinlicker's Nowhere To Go, with Placebo's Brian Molko on board for vocals, at 32 - it's been 14 years since Brian last charted, and 27 years since Nancy Boy debuted. The Black Keys return again in 2024's charts, this time with On The Game at 51. A lot of acts debut this week, including Beach Weather, Reve, Fontaines D.C., Gavin Turek, Schiller, Goldie Boutilier, and Aimee, while returning acts include Gwen Stefani, Anderson .Paak (with the Olympics theme), Foster The People, and a Freemasons oldie that hasn't charted before, but which annoyingly isn't available to download. I get peeved when people say you dont need records cos everything ever recorded is on Spotify. No it's not. It's REALLY not. Vast amounts of songs are not available in any format except the original physical release. Disappointing :( Espresso finally entered for me :cheer: it took its time. That's a fab climb for my oh my. It should peak decently high for me in the end I think. ^_^

Manic here too, but that's because I take on too much :o :D Last week or so, new shower bought (broke down stained walls and ceiling needing painting now, shower still to install), dog walking/sitting, buzzjack stuff, chart stuff, family over & living here, kids hyperactive, dead pigeon in garden to bury, pub quiz, carpet cleaning, bills and stuff, new glasses to collect, shopping - not that I'm complaining but I don't know how some people can find retirement boring! Martin Garrix has another winner, yes indeed, it's shame they never become hits what with the charts being fickle as ever - 2024 has been an abrupt change in chart pop style, long overdue really, though. Lots of big tunes. Kylie's is a grower, at first it sounded just like a weaker Padam, what wiv all dat Autotune overload, but it has a cheeky charm that starts to come through the more I hear it. Fingers-crossed Like A Prayer gets that reset! The Freemasons, I thought you were a fan of it, but not as much as that! I totally missed out on it at the time, and like it and wanted to buy it, but it's not available anywhere, and my last resort of "alternative" downloading seems to be blocked, so that's me stuffed from hearing it in glorious stack system stereo at home or in the car. I'm not listening to it in tatty Alexa-speaker or tinny phone, so sadly it's not going to have much of a chart run unless I can buy it on ebay. Tut!
