Posted August 15, 2024Aug 15 I saw It Ends With Us today, it was okay, it took a while to get going so there were some pacing issues tbh. As much as I usually like Blake Lively I didn't like her in that role, her performance wasn't believable in the way it should have been. There were some really nice creative choices I appreciated though, the set is stunning, especially in Lily's shop. The casting for younger Lily was spot on as well, like the actress is Blake's double to an almost eery level. I enjoyed those scenes more than a lot of the present day ones. I really liked how the scenes where Ryle does hurt Lily it's jumpy and a little blurry so you even question whether it was or wasn't an accident, it really puts you in Lily's shoes then as she realises the actual position she's in all those scenes become clear, you understand with her. Justin Baldoni was amazing, it must have been a really difficult character to play but he was perfect, I think I'd recommend seeing this for his scenes alone. If you've ever dealt with a narcissist you'll understand what I mean. It makes me want to read the book as I'm hopeful it goes a bit deeper than the film did. But yea I'll give this one a 3/5
August 19, 2024Aug 19 I enjoyed this more than I expected, I thought it was very well done and it's a shame that it's caught up in behind the scenes drama because it's bringing focus and getting people to talk about a very important issue. I liked the backstory that was given to Ryle, and thought the ending with Lily getting him to think how he'd feel if it was their daughter getting abused was very powerful.
September 1, 2024Sep 1 Colleen Hoover dedicated this book to her father who was abusive to her mother so that’s a fun fact. I don’t get how this is being treated like bible for DV stories by the media, it’s just a watered down glamourised version. And Blake Lively’s promotion of it just makes it look like a joke as well.
