Finally!
Edit: thank you mods for creating a 2025 Topic for Melfest because I was far too lazy!

  • Adding onto what's been said already, I think there's a sliding scale between "novelty" and "camp" where at one end you've got those late 00s entries where people had stopped caring/treated the whole

  • Yeah I agree and at the core of it, Eurovision should be fun! Imagine if it was all songs like Revolution or just a load of ballads, obviously some of the ballads are great, there’s some great pop son

  • I don’t understand such a polarising response to this song. It’s always been a popularity contest and a SHOW where countries chase trends and try to one up the other. Nothing changed, it just became a

Ugh at all the Måns rumours on my timeline today. Apparently he wants Eurovision badly.

He’s best off leaving it at least another year imo, because he is hungry to be the male replica of Loreen with the double win, but I don’t see that happening so soon after she did it.

I don't see it happening at all, I think his general style is too generic now for the way Eurovision winners have evolved. Even looking back Heroes feels a lot more 'of its time' than almost all of the other winners since Euphoria. Even if personally I still love the track more than most of the other winners myself.

That's assuming Sweden would even back him to win Melodifestivalen again, I'm not sure I see it unless the song was astounding and very creative. Look what happened to Danny this year, you can't just trade on former glories.

Honestly... Maybe he should try something original (?) and aim to be the first person to win for more than one country and represent us? :kink:

Lots to digest here, but not shocking to see the Mans rumours were true, he wants this bad.

I’m not here for another John Lundvik snorefest and his win on Melfest just seems to be an excuse now to send whatever.

Klara Hammarstrom AGAIN?! At least she’s improving YoY.

Excited for another bop from Malou Prytz and Dolly Style 43!

ANDREAS *.*

I’m not excited for this year at all. I was exploring potentially coming out for my first ever Melfest if A*Teens were in the mix. They lost out there.

Adrian Macéus already has a #1 in my chart *.* hoped he'd show up in this one day!
I’m not excited for this year at all.

unless sweden flops completely in eurovision i don't think this will change in the foreseeable future

among the artists im the most excited about Ella Tiritello and AmenA, the latter especially :o

Ella Tiritello with a Loreen writing credit definitely caught my eye 👀

Some potential for my love here. B-)

I wish to get something good, especially from Schalgerz and Victoria Silvstedt.

Ugh, I was hoping to see Kiana or Jacqline

It's great to have all the songs of each heat released in full. They're already available on iTunes NZ.

In Heat 1 John Lundvik's song is the best by far. The Bollywood song is lovely as well, but I heard she's not good live.

Voice of the Silent and Hush Hush are strong! I quite like Upp I Luften too.

Oh really nice to see the songs up on Spotify the day before the semi now! Finally Melodifestivalen gets with the times and we don't have to wait forever for the finalists.

I actually really like Kamikaze Life, it's definitely a Kim Wilde pastiche but I always loved Maja's band The Sounds - Painted By Numbers and Tony The Beat are mid 00s classics.

Voice Of The Silent is pretty anthemic and triumphant in the way Swedes love to vote for so I'm sure that will go straight to the final.

Linnea's track is my favourite, I expected something slower from her but the 60s party vibe is really fun, I'd love to see this make the final but it possibly won't go direkt. Reminds me of the sort of thing coming out during the 2007-8 Motown pop revival.

Upp I Luften and Hush Hush sounded like promising uptempos and I'm sure the former will go to the final, either direkt or eventually.

Adrian's song is boring and the only one I don't like on first listen.

Prediction:

DTF: John Lundvik, Albin and PA

Second chance: Linnea Henriksson, Meira Omar

Out: Maja Ivarsson, Adrian Macéus

Think John is certain and then it's the kids vote (Albin/Meira) vs oldies vote (Linnea) for the second final spot.

^don't forget that only 3rd place in each heat is getting a second chance this year! Although it doesn't look like format changes have been mentioned in this thread - I've heard that they've also scrapped the age group vote reveals, and we're back to a 'finalen or bust' moment between the songs that are 2nd and 4th in each heat.

Liking "Upp i luften" and "Kamikaze Life" most on first listen, that's going to be a fabulous start to Melfest 2025. "Hush Hush" is also rather good (though the first time that a song co-written by Dino Medanhodzic won't be going direkt?) and John Lundvik is a step up from his last entry.

So thankful that they're releasing the songs in advance, as heat 3 is the only heat that I'm able to watch live this year :drama:

Oh I didn’t realise that, so three songs straight out? It will be tricky then for Meira, Maja and Adrian to compete then.
Nice to see John Lundvik going down well - although on first listen I do prefer Too Late For Love

No ones watching tonight?

8.0/10 Linnea Henriksson - Den känslan

7.5/10 Maja Iversson - Kamikaze Life

7.0/10 Meira Omar - Hush Hush

6.5/10 John Lundvik - Voice of the Silent

5.0/10 Albin Johnsén feat. Pa - Upp i luften

4.0/10 Adrian Macéus - Vår första gång

I really hope Linnea can go through tonight!
