Thom cancels Aussie tour

January 12, 2007 12:00am

BRITISH singer Sandi Thom has cancelled her 2007 Australian tour as she announced fresh tour dates in her home country.

The Frontier Touring Company said "last minute promotional commitments" in the UK were behind the cancellations - including a show at Melbourne's Palais Theatre on January 31.

But the chart-topping artist has announced eight new shows across Britain early next month.

The Brit last year enjoyed seven weeks at the top of the ARIA singles chart with I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair).

She was also booked to perform at Perth's Burswood Theatre, Adelaide's Thebarton Theatre, Sydney's Enmore Theatre and Brisbane's The Tivoli at the end of the month and early February.

New dates have not been announced and fans are being advised to seek a refund from their original point of purchase.

Why the hell did she do that? Nobody in the UK cares that much about her any more...

I like her and saw her in concert in October in Brighton but I wouldn't go again...

yeh well i think her 2nd single didnt make it into the top 30. i dont know if that has anything to do with it. it was advertised everywhere.. i had no intention to go anyways
She is a good singer but she launched with a gimmicky song and that is what everybody will remember her for...I doubt she'll have success again in Oz or the UK...her best bet would be to take Punk Rocker to Europe or the US and try and make some more money out of it

I hate that song!

I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker is terrible! :(

But I must admit I like her next single "What If I'm Right" :P

She cancelled Oz concerts for more in the UK? I think that's unfair :o! I liked her first 2 singles but wouldn't bother going to see her or anything...

The debut was $h!t - very overhyped just because she sung in her basement wooo. The followup was far superior. Wasn't IWIWAPR the biggest selling single of 2006 in Oz?

Anyway good riddance to her.

I liked 'What If I'm Right' and 'Lonely Girl' a LOT more than her debut single, is the album worth getting?

I would recommend it if you like the other 2 singles...there are some gems on the album like Castles and The Human Jukebox
