New Radicals, of Get What You Give fame, have released two new singles today - their first in 25 years! Both songs were written by members of the band for other purposes.

Lost Stars was on the soundtrack to the film Begin Again, while Murder on the Dancefloor was originally intended to be the debut single for New Radicals but was eventually tweaked by Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who turned it into her signature pop-disco anthem.

Lead singer Gregg Alexander also co-wrote other hits over the years for Sophie again (Mixed Up World, Music Gets The Best Of Me), Ronan Keating (Life Is A Rollercoaster, Lovin' Each Day, I Love It When We Do), Texas (Inner Smile), Melanie C (On The Horizon). Another band member, Danielle Brisebois, co-wrote Natasha Bedingfield's Unwritten.

I've always thought Lost Stars was a lovely track, and the Murder cover of their original demo is very interesting to hear with the different lyrics and rockier production.

New Radicals' second single Someday We'll Know, which just missed the top 40 here in 1999, is also a great track that I still listen to a lot.
