Fab rundown and some unexpected/more recent songs at the top end was nice to see. Great to read along and follow Joseph.

My Take That top 10:

1. Rule The World

2. Shine

3. The Flood

4. These Days

5. Never Forget

6. Pray

7. Patience

8. Up All Night

9. Back For Good

10. Could It Be Magic

The top six there are all in my all-time top 300 songs list - Rule The World, Shine and The Flood are all in the top 30 - three perfect pop songs.

Shout out to album tracks/b-sides Eight Letters, We All Fall Down, SOS, Wooden Boat and Mancunian Way - all of which I think are at least as good as Up All Night.

This countdown has brought me back to the circus alot this week, the garden and hold up a light lead me back to it as its also my fave album from them.

It's great when you have groups like take that who can offer great singles but also album tracks that are just as good if not better.

I loved 'Shine' at the time but now I never ever want to hear it in my life again, in part because of overplay and I'm part thanks to Morrisons ruining it.

I think my favourite might be between 'The Flood' which is just grand, or maybe 'Back For Flood' which is a total hairs standing up moment.

'The Garden' is gorgeous, I always thought 'Greatest Day' was horrid and this could have easily also done the business for them as a lead single.

Agreed that The Garden would have been a fantastic lead single, a real grand statement of intent, but I suppose they considered it not commercial enough.

Greatest Day feels like it was just written by a committee for a very specific purpose (to be 'the big stadium opener'), and to me therefore feels hollow of meaning, I get nothing from it. A bit like that recent Coldplay lead single.

While i myself think the Garden is 10 times better than Greatest Day, im not sure it would have matched the same success so from that point of view Greatest Day was probably the right lead single.
Yes to a point but there fortunes were starting to change in the singles chart as up all night only made number 14 which shocked me at the time as it was following up a big number 1 single.
