Hoping he gets it. He doesn't have physicals or anything this week does he?

Is it a Live album or a Greatest Hits!? The title is really confusing, I thought it was a live album but I've just seen there is a "Tour Collection Live"???

He does have physicals.

Signed Posters have also been added to Banquet as a freebie with the deluxe CD (Large size posters so that's pretty cool)

Oh he is going for it then! Good luck to him.

The original release was just a greatest hits, it's been re-released this week as a 2 disc album with the first half being live recordings and the original GH release as the second half. Definitely confusingly titled / marketed.

Clever. A dead sales week which in the equivalent week last year saw Lewis Capaldi at No.1 with 8.5k, the year before Taylor with 11k.

Ed is still doing 8k streams of this album a week so wouldn't need to add very much physically to challenge for No.1 that week (unless some other album blows up in the meantime or Sabrina is still doing really well etc). If he gives it a push on socials then this very well could end up at No.1 then.

We know he's a chart fan and will study sales figures and trends just like we all do. Selecting the quietest week of the year to give your 'almost there but not quite' album another physical push is classic Ed. Got to respect the hustle

I can already imagine his post: "What a way to start 2025 with a No.1 album, it's so unexpected! I only put it out there to wrap off this era and the next album is out very soon. 2025 will be amazing" etc...

Never write him off!

Hoping he gets it so my prediction comes true.

It is indeed Sabrina doing really well that could put a fly in the ointment.

I can Sabrina potentially knocking him off the top spot, it really depends on his physicals I guess, she will certainly have the streaming advantage!

Very strange title why not something like +–=÷×: The Greatest Hits or Equations: The Collection then have the other one as +–=÷×: Greatest Hits Live or whatever!?

Well those #1 predictions didn't age too well...

Oops.

Edit: Ha! Must admit, I'm genuinely pleased for him, a No.5 hits album was a real blot on his chart history and it's clearly going to hang around for years and rack up a high total sale through streams. Also, the album is such a much stronger prospect now it actually IS a live album first and a Hits album second, as it always should have been.

Maybe The Weeknd can find a way through too this year if he pushes some limited vinyl or something on a quiet week.

Ed's social media post:

My 8th UK number one album. Thank you to everyone who streamed or bought it. What a way to cap off Mathematics, and what a way to start 2025. Feeling very very grateful. Happy new year folks, love you all x

I wasn't too far off *.*

I had a flick through it this week as I wondered if I may actually quite enjoy a greatest hits by him... but it turns out I liked even less than I thought I would, Shivers is comfortably my favourite with Lego House, Bloodstream, Castle on the Hill, Afterglow and Bad Habits being the only other ones I was even vaguely interested in.

If you didn't like him for overexposure you won't like this  it

S literally the biggest hits he ever released :P
