January 13, 200718 yr Chartbeat from Billboard.com January 11, 2007, Fred Bronson LIKE THE TITLE SAYS: "Irreplaceable," indeed. Beyonce's latest hit has stretched its reign over the Hot 100 to six weeks, making it the second-longest running No. 1 of the songs that achieved pole position in 2006. The Columbia single is tied for second place with "Promiscuous" by Nelly Furtado featuring Timbaland. If "Irreplaceable" isn't displaced next week, it will match Justin Timberlake's "SexyBack" as the longest running No. 1 of last year. Two more weeks on top will make "Irreplaceable" the No. 1 longevity champ of 2006 all by itself. It wouldn't be the first time Beyonce would have the longest-running No. 1 of a calendar year. In 2003, her "Baby Boy" checked into the penthouse for nine weeks, putting it in a three-way tie with 50 Cent's "In Da Club" and OutKast's "Hey Ya" for that year's longest-running No. 1. WELCOME, CLASS OF 2007: Last week, two Hot 100 chart entries that appeared to belong to the class of 2006 reached new peaks, making them part of the 2007 hits collection. Fergie's "Fergalicious" and the All-American Rejects' "It Ends Tonight" became the first hits of the current year. Now, three charts into the calendar year, a trio of songs have shifted status from 2006 hits to 2007 hits. The longest-running of the three is John Mayer's "Waiting On the World to Change" (Aware), which hits the half-year mark as it achieves a new peak position, rising 22-15. The single hit its previous high mark the week of Oct. 7, 2006. The rebound makes "Waiting" Mayer's second biggest hit on the Hot 100, runner-up only to his initial entry, "No Such Thing." That track went to No. 13 the week of Aug. 17, 2002. Leaping into the top 10 for the first time is "Welcome to the Black Parade" (Reprise) by My Chemical Romance. The 13-9 move comes in the song's 17th chart week, giving the group its first top 10 hit. Its previous best outing was the No. 33 peak of "Helena (So Long and Goodnight)" in September 2005. Completing the trio of newly-minted 2007 hits is "Say It Right" (Mosley/Geffen) by Nelly Furtado. A 10-5 rebound makes this third single from the "Loose" album Furtado's second biggest hit after "Promiscuous," tied with "Turn Off the Light," the 2001 single that also peaked at No. 5. 'CHANGE' FOR THE BETTER: It's been three-and-a-half years since Ruben Studdard first appeared on the Adult R&B Airplay chart. Over that time, he's had six hits, and the most successful is his latest, "Change Me." Now in its eighth week at No. 1, this song has doubled the four-week reign of "Sorry 2004," which ruled this list in March-April 2004. "Change Me" was the sixth song to lead the Adult R&B tally in 2006. "Change Me" may still accrue more weeks in first place, and at this point three of the six 2006 chart-toppers had longer reigns. Mary J. Blige's "Be Without You" was in charge for 14 weeks, Anthony Hamilton's "Can't Let Go" held on for 11 weeks and Lionel Richie's "I Call It Love" maintained for 10 weeks. 'I WILL' AND 'SURVIVE': Hank Williams Jr. scores a rare hat trick on Hot Country Songs with a 25th anniversary remix of "A Country Boy Can Survive" (Asylum-Curb), which re-enters Hot Country Songs at No. 56. "Survive" was originally a hit in 1982, when it spent three weeks at No. 2. A new recording, billed as a Y2K version and credited to Chad Brock with Hank Williams Jr. and George Jones, peaked at No. 30 the week of Jan. 15, 2000. Williams is not the only artist to appear on this chart three times with the same song. Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" spent one week at No. 1 in 1974, another week at No. 1 in 1982 in a newly-recorded version and then peaked at No. 15 in 1995 when it was recorded as a duet with Vince Gill. Further back in time, Ernest Tubb reached the top 10 three times with a pre-Elvis Presley recording of "Blue Christmas." The single was No. 1 in 1950, No. 9 in 1951 and No. 5 in 1952.
