I'm sure it will be pushed back. That seems to be way too early - especially with no name and I'm sure he'd want to do plenty of promotion for it.

I am quite interested actually - his 2nd album was very mature and strong - sort of like an inferior's 'Friday Child'. I think it alienated all the teenage girls who loved him when he first won the show and released all the slushy covers $h!t.

Thanks Mikey, I agree it wont be on the 5 Feb, he has not even started promotion yet, but I cant wait for it. I love all his new songs, especially love the faster ones I heard at the gig.

Hope we wont have to wait too much longer to find out which song will be his first single. :dance:

Thanks Mikey. I almost fell off my chair when I first saw that date. Far too soon. I don't think it will be released until at least the middle of March, if not a bit later. I hope there will be lots of promotion first.

 

Incidentally for anyone who missed the Documentary before Christmas, its being repeated on ITV2 on Mondy at 8 o'clock.

I thought the same about the songs. Almost as though they didn't want us to hear the rocky bits of the songs just yet. Did you notice on the Documentary when Gareth started playing the song on his Laptop, he quickly moved it back to the beginning before we heard that bit.

 

Val, Changes is a ballad, but I cant believe its over gets rocky in the chorus. :D

 

I do love 19 min, the start is great, you could not hear it on the program, and its a nice mid tempo song. Wonder if it will be the first single. :D

I thought maybe 19 Minutes, or maybe even one of the songs we haven't even heard yet

 

The documentary gave the impression that 19 Minutes was being favoured as a single, but I don't trust them to get it right when they couldn't get his previous chart history correct.

 

That mini-video the fan made for 19 Minutes is brilliant, and very cleverly done.

 

 

The date is far too soon, and his website isn't even finished. They've promised a lot more content soon, but we're still waiting, and there isn't even any music on his MySpace (www.myspace.com/garethgatesmyspace), just some random videos of him mucking about, which are lovely, but we need more! Loads of comments from all around the world too, so it's not just us waiting.

 

Emma Bunton's single came from no-where, but she was doing CIN, and it seemed like a last minute decision for her to do the single and bring out the album with it. They've been planning Gareth's album for years, so why rush it now?

 

Have any of you hear Pictures? It was sung at the gig and someone got a recording of some of it. It's a bit funkier and very catchy, but the vibe is maybe suited more to the Summer.

I've only heard the copy from the gig of Pictures. Its a bit fuzzy and I couldn't really get a feel for the song like that. Those people who actually heard it at the gig thought it was fantastic :dance:

 

I can't wait to get my hands on this album. If they make me wait much longer I shall self-combust :wub:

Edit: A fan rang 19 and was told there is no definitely date for the release yet, so 5th Feb is not correct. Quite glad about that. Gareth needs more than 3 weeks to promote.

He had that stuttering problem and he won Pop Idol -they just marketed him that way. Personally I hate all these reality tv show $h!ts until they actually pull away from that tag and make PROPER music like Will Young has and what Gareth is obv doing now.

Fame Accademy is much better imo - at least the contestants MADE an album of their own written material etc and didn't just do karaoke every single week but there you go.
