March 7, 200718 yr Listening to the DJ last night he said "the album was amazing". Great words from one in the industry and I would think these are the people Gareth is listening to. I think that DJ last night was having a game with Gareth's fans don't you Dindy. He kept emphasizing that he'd had so many people asking him not to play the record again, but how many people actually do that sort of thing. I'm sure no matter how much I disliked a song I wouldn't be prompted to do that. The DJ himself was very honest though. He said it was a good song, not the best on the album, but good all the same. He said he'd heard the album (lucky devil) and it was fantastic. So that's two out of two DJ's have said the same thing now. And he's going to be trying his best to get Gareth into the studio for an interview, so I can't think he had quite the opposition to the song, he was implying, or he wouldn't be bothering would he. I bet the banter he managed to get with Gareth's fans last night by saying what he did about his listeners the previous night, gave him the most interesting program he's had for weeks (very shrewd). But then, like him or not, Gareth has never had any problems stirring up people's interest, so no change there. Gareth has been invited to do a private Showcase for Radio 2 sometime this week.
March 7, 200718 yr "Changes" is utter dirge, I honestly see it flopping, who wants to buy such a MoR rubbish song? :S

March 7, 200718 yr It's not going to be everyone's cuppa, and I must admit I'm surprised they are brave enough to release something that is a bit unconventional, but they obviously want to make a statement. Like it or not, I don't see how it can be described as MOR, but a lot of people like MOR, so it's not that much of a put-down. I can understand what Joe Mott meant about the song either being a massive hit, or passing people by. I think it's a song that not everyone will get on first listen, so convincing the radio stations to give it the airplay it needs might be harder than it would have been for one of the more commercial tracks, such as Angel on My Shoulder, but I get the sense that it's a risk they are willing to take, and that they know that Gareth's come-back is about more than just one single. A few people who have heard the album have said they prefer other songs, which might be bad news for this single, but then it's good news for the album as a whole. I hope it does get good airplay. I love it, more and more on each listen, and I really do think it will impress a lot of people if they do give it a chance.
March 8, 200718 yr Changes is amazing, it made the hairs at the back of my neck stand up, its brilliant. But it needs to be really listened to, its definately not back ground music. Cant wait for the video. :cheer:
March 11, 200718 yr Sorry folks, just had to resurrect this thread  I'm a bit beside myself today. The video for Gareth's single `Changes' is to be shown on Channel 4 at 1.45 this afternoon. I've waited so long for this day and now its finally arrived, I can hardly believe it  At the moment I'm trying to find anything to occupy myself. Never known a Sunday morning go so slow :yahoo:
March 11, 200718 yr Author My thread topic just keeps om bouncing up and down, its had too many hot dinners already
March 11, 200718 yr My thread topic just keeps om bouncing up and down, its had too many hot dinners already  There can never be too much of Gareth Mikey  Hope you'll be finding out lots of info after 9th April
March 11, 200718 yr I saw this on T4 a little while ago. I thought he was supposed to have a new musical direction/image - new ANYTHING  Nothing's changed at all, infact I think his music has got worse whilst staying exactly the same
March 11, 200718 yr My thread topic just keeps om bouncing up and down, its had too many hot dinners already  Ohhh Mikey you are not going to deny this after us waiting all this time to see Mr.Gates back on our screens. :cheer: Absolutely loved the video. Loved Gareth playing the piano too, not to mention that he looked pretty cool. I didn't tape it :( and am desperate to see it again (if only to work out the story). When is it being added to the video channels does anyone know?
March 11, 200718 yr Hmm, saw the vid on CH4, does'nt seem commercial enough to be a big comback hit imo.
March 11, 200718 yr Hmm, saw the vid on CH4, does'nt seem commercial enough to be a big comback hit imo. Nice to know that you tuned in to watch it. I, quite obviously hope Gareth does have the success but for now I am going to enjoy all the promotion.
March 11, 200718 yr I thought the video was brilliant. Loved seeing Gareth playing the piano in it. Such a lot of contrast in this song. Soft and gentle, then exploding into such emotion. Fantastic. I loved it  Dindy, I think I read the video was going to the music channels Monday 12th, which is tomorrow. Probably after the Freshly Squeezed showing :cheer:
March 11, 200718 yr Hmm, saw the vid on CH4, does'nt seem commercial enough to be a big comback hit imo. I think you may be wrong Scotty, but even if you are right, Gareth has said himself that his new music doesn't have to be No1 singles this time around. As long as its well received and sells reasonably well, I think everyone will be content with that result. IMO this song is very very good, and the general concensus is that there are other songs on the album which are quite a lot better, so we're in for a treat I think. Just to have him back singing again is enough for me
March 11, 200718 yr I love the video and it goes very well with the song. It isn't as commercial as some of the stuff he's done before, but being commercial isn't the be all and end all of music. I love that the song has layers and has more to offer on each listen, but I fully accept that means it might not be instant enough for some. It's a balancing act for him as it is for everyone else in the industry. Personally speaking, I'm delighted with what he's done. Gareth said he was very pleased with the video and particularly liked the lighting and I agree with him on that. It adds to the mood brilliantly, and dare I say it - he's looking quite sexy too! :yahoo: It's up on YouTube now. :cheer: JkqAoB_0bOw
March 11, 200718 yr I love the video, it tells a story, and goes brilliant with the music. I love the song, the more I hear it, the more I love it, its a grower I think. Gareth is happy with his new music, and I am definitely loving it too. :cheer:
March 11, 200718 yr This track is growing on me. I wasn't sure about it at first. I think the record company don't probably expect a huge runaway track to start off Gareth's comeback and this is probably the reason Changes was chosen. It's good though and a great start and hopefully they are in it for the longhaul.
March 11, 200718 yr Not heard this yet though am very interested. Judging by nonfans reaction so far in this thread it's not erm very good?
