January 13, 200718 yr I am sure there wont be a single on the 5th Feb. It's far too soon, and I think the date has just come from HMV - who get dates wrong a lot. However, I am pretty excited about this...whenever it is. Those folk who have heard the tracks in full, at the gig, loved them. I think they will be pretty far removed from the 'Say it Isn't So' era. Plus - he's really grown into his looks :P
January 13, 200718 yr I don't think stuttering purposly to get 13 year old girls votes is 'charming' Does anyone still believe that? It was a conspiracy theory made up by the tabloids in the final weeks of Pop Idol designed to sell papers. Presumably you think people with disabilities shouldn't be allowed on prime time tv in case it makes sensitive people such as yourselves uncomfortable? On Gareth's last album, he did try to pull away from what was expected of someone from Pop Idol, but Simon Cowell only let him break away a little bit musically, and he kept a tight control of how he was marketed, and that was pitched entirely as if Gareth was going to scuttle back to the Cowell way of thinking like Westlife always do whenever they've tried to do something a bit more interesting. Gareth didn't want to play ball, so he got sidelined. Now he's broken away from all of that, and the music I've heard sounds fantastic, so I am now hoping that 19 get the marketing right, and remember that his fans are not just teen girls.
January 13, 200718 yr It was all to get him big, making people sorry for him. He's talentless, the real star won pop idol that year
January 13, 200718 yr Thanks Graham for your post. :D And just to put the record straight, Gareth was the runner up of course. :D
January 13, 200718 yr It was all to get him big, making people sorry for him. He's talentless, the real star won pop idol that year Just out of curiosity, what in your book shows that someone has talent?
January 13, 200718 yr I'm not a fan of him, I only liked 'Sunshine' but that was quite different to the rest of his stuff, the rest of his singles were either wishy washy cover versions or supremely dull slushy ballads. But I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and see what he comes up with.
January 13, 200718 yr But I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and see what he comes up with. Thanks Aly, that's all Gareth or any of his fans would want anyone to do. Listen to the music, decide whether you like it and either buy or not buy, whatever they decide :D
January 13, 200718 yr I've rated Gareth since I was dragged along to one of his gigs and I know he's got more respect in the industry than you'd expect, given his roots, probably because of his ability to play quite a few different instruments. I hope he's given a fair chance. He deserves it. He was sold down the river by Simon Cowell and BMG and they thought they could do better with Shayne but they've found that harder than they thought. I'd love him to prove they got it wrong.
January 13, 200718 yr My brother stutters. It's not something he chooses to do. I wish they'd had the knowledge when he was younger. It inno way made his life easier. It isn't a choice, I can't think of anyone who wouldn't be glad to get rid of it. It's taken Gareth years. I applaud his perseverance.
January 13, 200718 yr Author You know i'm right, it's why he's a nobody now Don't need to go OTT mate, there are loads of people with a speech impediment including me, and its not very nice to make a laugh about it, I've been at the end of many jokes and they soon realise they were bang out of order..
January 13, 200718 yr I can't see Gareth's single being released on Feb 5th, It would be great if it was. But I think that both him and his management will want to get things right before he does come back, He is a perfectionist and only the best will do and he has worked really hard to get things right so hopefully all of that will pay off. I loved all of his songs on his documentary and I hope that 19 Minutes or Pictures is released, They would do well for him and I'm sure people will love the rocky sound they have to them. I've heard they are a lot different to his previous albums. I can't wait now for him to come back, Lets hope it's not too long now. :D :cheer:
January 14, 200718 yr Thank Mikey  on its way to to you! :yahoo: :yahoo: cracks open the champagne (and wipes away a tear). At last, this it what I have waited to see for so long. Now the reality (and the nail biting begins) - Feb 5th is far too soon. While Gareth's decision to remain out of the spotlight for the last couple of years is respected he now needs to get back in it and let us hear these album tracks he has been working on. Looks forward to the next bit of news - Single's title is....... (Just wish I could put up a link to a couple of songs from Gareth's programme, so others could hear them and see which they feel would be most radio friendly- off for another lesson in technology)!
January 14, 200718 yr I'm not sure what to think, he has got the whole package - looks, voice and good fashion sense but I have no idea how well he will do! I liked the song on his documentry though ^_^
January 14, 200718 yr It will be interesting to see how he does when he returns. Its been quite a few years since his last single. In my opinion, if they promoted him better and released better singles from his last album, he would have done better instead of releasing crappy cover versions and weak songs.
January 15, 200718 yr I agree Well, there were rumours last year that Gareth was hanging out with one of the members of Take That. Perhaps he's been picking up some tips from Gary  One of Gareth's strong points is he's always ready to listen and learn
January 15, 200718 yr I'm not sure what to think, he has got the whole package - looks, voice and good fashion sense but I have no idea how well he will do! I liked the song on his documentry though Just watching the documentary agai, I am forced to agree with you- he has got the whole package. Listening to that music again, whilst I know it has to be a strong song for a comeback (as with all artists) I think a couple of them could do it(she says crossing her fingers).
January 18, 200718 yr I saw his TV programme a few nights ago. Wasnt that impressed with his new songs. I doubt he will make a very successful comeback even if he is writing his own stuff now.
