Surprised none of his former band mates have said anything yet unless I've missed it.
Just for a brief comparison since we are both sports fans:

Nicky Hayden and Valentino Rossi were both close friends. Followiing Hayden's death announcement, Vale didn't posted anything on social media (when other autosport legends already did) until the next 24 hours.

It'll take time, dw. 🙏

I think this was a good one too. She knew him from the beginning and also saw how management didn’t really look out for their welfare

Liam Payne's family have just issued a statement following his death:

"We are heartbroken. Liam will forever live in our hearts and we'll remember him for his kind, funny and brave soul.

"We are supporting each other the best we can as a family and ask for privacy and space at this awful time."

It’s the morning here in Cali and I am still reeling. I can only echo the sentiments that it’s really heartbreaking to see this happen to someone so young and close to my age and that I feel for his loved ones especially his son.

I definitely agree that the speculation going around on the internet isn’t helping at all and could be potentially harmful. Of course there have been events going on that have revealed stuff about him and the past seven days in particular may have been hard on him but I’d like to think it’s all correlation. I’ve seen people bring up the whole Diddy/Beyonce situation in this like 😬😬😬 that’s not something you should joke about, period. They’re already doing it to Justin Bieber, they don’t need to bring One Direction into it too. They’ve been in the industry for a while now, the boys have been through enough as it is.

Regardless of the how and why, I hope his soul is at peace.

How horrible it's all such a terrible shame.

I can't help but think social media would've contributed to his troubles, you'd see so much abuse towards him, especially on tiktok. That Max Baledge only posted a video of Liam's top 5 cringiest moments only hours before the tragedy happened. It's crazy there isn't more out there to stop this behavior it's bound to impact people. Especially going from being in the limelight from being amazing to then being classed as cringe, it's just mean.

To be fair I think it's probably a really hard thing for them to all process and probably not at the forefront of their minds given it's such a shock to them.

I would expect something later in the week maybe.

yeah I’d imagine it would be hard for Niall in particular, since Liam was just in Argentina to support him on tour and then this happens. The shock from that doesn’t wear off as quickly as a day.
Today felt like a blur another member of pop group i loved and adored passing away (after Sarah from Girls Aloud and Paul from S Club 7). The 1D AF is what brought me here on buzzjack and i loved the times i was a 1D af. Heard Night Changes on the radio earlier and i was in tears listening to it.
Really lovely words there from Marvin. I don’t think now is the time for Rebecca Ferguson to be using this to make her point until there is more information properly released.

It's uncomfortable seeing people on Reddit blaming Simon Cowell for the whole thing, what with the BGT auditions being postponed cos of it.

Yet they would be complaining that he didn't say anything.

I've not actually shared many thoughts of my own yet. Last night I was stunned and in shock, and I woke up this morning feeling quite tearful. Work's been weird because people were obviously discussing it, "isn't it awful?" and all that, but only a few really know that I'm a big Harry/1D fan and thought to be a bit more sensitive around me.

I remember watching Liam's 2010 audition (and vaguely his 2008 stint), still an impressive performance, and his voice was always brilliant. He was an integral part of One Direction and it wouldn't have been the same without his presence, personality and songwriting, not to mention the reliable consistency he brought with his strong vocals. I'm glad I got to see Liam with Harry, Louis and Niall on tour in 2015, but it's pretty sad to think I'll never get to see them as a five, should a reunion have ever been on the cards involving all of them.

Liam's solo music was bumpy for me but I adored For You and found enjoyment in a number of his other songs, and I saw him performing an acoustic show at Banquet Records around the time LP1 came out, which was a great show. As a personality he'd slipped down my group rankings in recent years, and some of the recent news reports about him have been concerning. It's a shame he never got the help he needed, because this is a really depressing end to his story. 31 is no age.

I'll forever cherish everything Liam brought me as part of 1D, they defined my teenage years (they formed when I was 13 and split when I was 18 so I mean that literally), and another of my favourite groups having a member pass is really depressing.

Scott Mills’ tribute was lovely, I was listening to his show earlier and he played both ‘Story of My Life’ and ‘Night Changes’ too ❤️

I really did a double take when I saw the notification last night, how utterly tragic, RIP and condolences to all close to him, especially his son :(

I wasn't a huge fan of One Direction, but I agree with others that I have vivid memories of how big a deal and they were, my uni days were soundtracked by them. This feels far, far too soon for that to all be over before even a first renuion </3

Seems pretty clear from the details he wasn't in a good place at all so this may well have been coming, accidental or otherwise. From an outsiders perspective, it did seem he was a lot more troubled and suffered the darker sides of fame compared to his bandmates. It's really quite awful how fame can leave you out to dry at such a young age, with the increased mental health awareness these days, you'd think lessons had been learned but still a bit of a way to go...

Condolences also to all fans on here still processing this news, stay strong

I was alright until I watched that Scott Mills clip and it broke me. Utterly tragic news, it's so sad. Rest in peace Liam
As I thought, they'd all release a joint statement together which stops any speculation. Grief is so frigging complicated and I would imagine they're all handling it in different ways, especially since I think at least half of them live in America these days. Thought the tribute from Louis was really touching too.
