Country music star Thomas Rhett released his seventh studio album, ‘About A Woman’ on August 23, 2024. This album delves deep into personal themes of love, marriage, and family, reflecting Rhett’s own life experiences. 

 

 ‘About A Woman’ showcases Rhett’s evolution as an artist, blending traditional country sounds with modern influences. The album features 14 tracks, including:

The lead single, ‘Beautiful As You’ was released on May 13, 2024, setting the tone for the album’s heartfelt narrative. 

 

Rhett co-wrote 13 of the 14 tracks, drawing inspiration from his wife, Lauren Akins, and their journey together. He aimed to convey joy and authenticity, with the closing track, ‘I Could Spend Forever Loving You’ standing out as a poignant ballad. The song ‘Somethin’ ‘Bout A Woman’ was specifically inspired by Akins, highlighting Rhett’s admiration for her.

Thomas Rhett has teamed up with rising singer-songwriter Lanie Gardner for a fresh duet version of his song, “What Could Go Right.” This collaboration offering fans a new take on a track that originally appeared on Rhett’s 2024 album, About A Woman.

“What Could Go Right” delves into the complexities of transitioning from friendship to romance, capturing the emotions of taking that leap of faith in a relationship. The original version was inspired by Rhett’s own experiences with his wife, Lauren Akins, reflecting the early stages of their relationship. 

Lanie Gardner, recognized as part of CMT’s Next Women of Country Class of 2025, brings a fresh perspective to the song. Her vocals harmonize seamlessly with Rhett’s, adding depth to the narrative of the duet. Gardner expressed her excitement about the collaboration, stating on social media, “I freakin’ love Thomas Rhett and his music so… it’s pretty dang cool to be a part of this.” 

For this fourth single from the album, I’m giving this duet a 7/10.

I already liked the album version a lot, but as a duet, it adds beautiful harmonies that elevate the song.
