thanks for giving me a throughline to the previous Tory thread references to honesty Kemi.

Discuss the unwelcome attempts at regaining relevancy that the battered and defeated Tory party does over the next few years.

Steve said in the old thread that the Tories will move to the Centre - I just can't see it under the current Leadership. Think they'll lech further to the right and I'd be shocked if there's not a new leader in charge by 2029.

Shadow Foreign Secretary - Pritti Patel, sacked as a minister for breaching national security

Shadow Justice Secretary - Robert Jenrick - a man who, only last week, ignored the rules regarding criminal investigations to try to politicise the murder of three young girls

Mel Stride - Shadow Chancellor (signs of a centrist move)

Laura Trott - Shadow Education Secretary

That would be the same Robert Jenrick who made leaving the ECHR one of his central leadership pledges, right?

Kemi Badenoch accused people who are committed to leaving the European Convention of Human Rights of offering "easy answers" on illegal migration, as she launched her official campaign to replace Rishi Sunak as Conservative Party leader.

Wonder if she's noticed that the batshit insane right really are just that batshit insane and aren't just pretending to gain power (like her) yet.

Ms Badenoch has claimed that she brings lunch in to eat while working because there is “no time” for a pause.

“What’s decompressing, what’s that? What’s a lunch break? Lunch is for wimps.

“I have food brought in and I work and eat at the same time. There’s no time,” she said.

In the same interview, Ms Badenoch argued that sandwiches are not “not real food” and that she sometimes chooses to eat a steak instead.

The Tory leader later attacked Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer for saying that he might watch Love Actually over Christmas, adding that she prefers watching Die Hard over the festive period.

step 1 on setting yourself up as a viable alternative to the government, go after those dastardly woke sandwiches, which can't compare with REAL FOOD™ like STEAK

In my line of work, someone never taking breaks/lunches is highlighted as a potential sign of internal fraud…..

In my line of work it’s just a sign that you work in a school.

Badenoch is such a lightweight. Who are those comments even appealing to?

I assume she eats her steak raw.

Very true!

Labour must be pretty relieved with their growing unpopularity if this is the opposition they're facing, genuinely reads like a Private Eye article. I'd laugh, but it's annoying that shit like this is getting column space.

Her performance in PMQs is pathetic every week, they're such a softball for him.

Anyone with a brain could see she would be a disaster. She doesn't cut through and she will say something absolutely stupid.

The Tories problem is Reform are in their same space with how they are currently operating and are cutting through much better, especially riding off the early Trump wave.

Let's not forget, this is the same lot who once made Liz Truss their leader (briefly)

That sub section of society who hate everyone and everything.

The internet probably amplifies it. The kind of people on social media who would reminisce about the good old days when we had "real bin men" (I'm not making that up).

Can’t imagine there is a big audience for that. Who doesn’t enjoy a sandwich? Can’t be many

I always say in work I’d rather a sandwich for lunch than a chippy or whatever others get from the shop as I like a hot meal in the evening rather than at lunch, does that make me anti-woke 😅

That probably makes you actually woke, according to Baddy Knocker and the Daily Mail:

 I do love a ham and cheese with a hint of English mustard sandwich with soup but if I’m getting a proper sandwich made in front of me I love olives, avocado, peppers and all sorts of things. I like a mix of everything, wonder if I fit into any of their boxes

It is time to congratulate the Tories for reaching a new low. They are tabling an amendment to the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill. Among other things, the Bill provides greater protection for children who are home-schooled. This could have prevented the murder of Sara Sharif who was killed by her father after she was taken out of school.

The Tories are proposing an amendment, calling for an enquiry into grooming gangs. The Tories, of course, have already had an enquiry. They said they would act on the recommendations, but failed to implement any of them.

This is where the Tory move is beneath contempt. If the amendment is passed, it won't lead to an enquiry. That is because the whole Bill will fail, meaning that none of its provisions, including the enquiry, will be implemented. That means that Labour MPs will have to vote against the amendment to save the rest of the Bill. The Tories, of course, will then make political capital out of the vote, in the hope that the reasoning behind it will be ignored. Not surprisingly, Farage's mob will vote for the amendment. The Lib Dems are planning to abstain.
