Posted November 28, 2024Nov 28 24th November 2024 It's a massive climb from 86 to 1 for Reverend And The Makers, who grab a 3rd number one with the Samaritans-supporting sort-of-festive Late Night Phone Call just a few weeks after helping The Lottery Winners get on top. It's a great feel-good ballad, while a stark ballad climbs to 5 for Father John Misty getting his 2nd top 5 track with Screamland, bit of an epic. Reve makes it two top 10's in a row with Disco At The Strip Club as another Disco, Witch, is up 38 places for LEXXE. In a busy chart, the highest new entry is for Armin van Buuren and Moby at 23 with Extreme Ways, a bangin' dance tune as Armin gets a 6th charting track in 11 years, and Moby extends his run to 33 years or so since Go kicked off his career and already beats the original peak of 25 for his 2002 original version. ROSE debuts at 42 along with Bruno Mars getting his second new duet on the chart, as APT. brings back memories of That's Not My Name, Ting Tings chart-topper, and some other chanty hits. Lower down the chart Tears For Fears and KIm Wilde keep the 80's strong with more 2024 tracks entering. Robbie Williams has a life-bio movie featuring an animated chimp as himself due at Christmas, and the touching video and movie song Forbidden Road drops in at 58, to extend his solo chart career to 28 years. It's a nice song, not entirely unlike Jim Croce's I Got A Name. Perrie gets a second charting track this year as her Christmas Magic sounds like an old Yuletide classic already. Band Aid celebrate 40 years of charity millions-donating by remixing highlights of 3 Band Aid tracks, Do They Know It's Christmas. Some more woke-on acts would prefer the lyrics get changed to reflect a more affluent Africa. Maybe if affluent nations got together and cured abject poverty we could all stop playing and downloading the bloody record. I would love to never hear it ever again. Or, here's an idea for those getting TV spots commenting, maybe you do a new charity record yourselves in the style you'd prefer? Love to buy it even if it's crap as long as all profits for everything go directly to the intended for the next 40 years. Condolences :o Plus side, hope you have a fab 2 weeks off, much deserved!! :dance: I'm squeezing Xmas into the next 8 days so I get 2 weeks in Gran Canaria and sunshine. It's hard to say no as Bournemouth Airport now has 3 airlines competing for the same Canaries market. It's bound to end in tears for one of 'em, the catchment area isn't that huge. It is now cheaper to fly there than get a train to London if you are flexible :o I agree about Fantasy, it's much better than Jade's big hit (which was OK) - this one has all sorts of great touches in it, riffs and all. Most people seem to agree with you about Lights camera Action, not the big hit one might have hoped for though it punched the right buttons. In fact the non-collabs on the album are all on a fairly even level of "good but not classic" and very short, so I suppose it's making hay on Padam Padam's crossover status, but I wonder if another 12 months and a few more big tunes might have been better. I also thought "Pitbull murdering Bon Jovi, that's not going to go down well :lol:" but it's pretty lively and catchy without being too annoying. :) Sam Fender doing his best Bruce Springsteen there. Better than Bruce is doing it very recently, actually, though his Northern Soul cover was great and a trip down musical memory lane is always good for filling-in until an album proper drops. :D I'm still getting used to Kim's new track, I like the sound but the song hasnt sunk in yet where Trail Of Destruction I can hum a bit :lol: Thanks as always, and thumbs up for that rest!
