I'm confused, is this supposed to be a Christmas song or have I misunderstood the holiday connection? The lyrics (what little there are of them) don't seem very festive at all.

It was never originally a Christmas song (it’s about a summer “vacation”), but has basically since become one because Americans refer to this period as the “holidays”.

Aul Americans ridiculous as usual. It really bugs me how our charts are dominated by America guff due to Spotify playlists.
