It's a new chart-topper from Father John Misty getting his first number one with the darkly effective Screamland, which also has optimism lyrically to counter the mood, and comes 2 years after his first top 5, the very 1940's-sounding Funny Girl. Armin van Buuren leaps to 4 with his Moby revamp, 4th time lucky finally going higher than top 20 and giving Moby his 9th top 10. JADE does what Little Mix never managed, as Fantasy also goes top 10.

 

In a quiet week for new entries, the chart mercifully gets chopped down to 75, with lots of tracks climbing, and the highest newie coming from the Disney+ Cars On The Road shorts-series, a 10min set of adventures to follow-up the engaging Cars Pixar movies. One episode has half of it devoted to a Truck sing-song which is rather fab! Trucks pops in at 42. New at 58, almost Monday sound like Empire Of The Sun but with guitars instead of synths, Can't Slow Down, while Shy FX are drum'n'bassing back after a break of 22 years, with an assist from Maverick Sabre on Risk It All at 63. Maverick has been absent a mere 12 years in comparison.

 

Deacon Blue are also back to extend their chart run to 36 years, with the appropriately-titled Late '88 returning them after a short absence of 3 years, having been pretty chart active here over the last 14 years as well as their late 80's/early 90's heyday. Finally, popping up in a TV advert the 1980 fave Steal Away from Robbie Dupree was forgotten long long ago, as it was never a UK hit, but the US hit has been rightly resurrected and pops in at 75.

Thanks for the picks and comments! Bakermat, I read some online reviews that mentioned it was a Gladys Knight sample, but it didn't sound like her to me (I think it's been digitally altered a bit), but I played her 1973 ballad Neither One Of Us twice to make sure that the lines appear in the song, and they do indeed! I had just never noticed them they are so low-key! So I'm going with confirming it is Gladys Knight now, she's pretty difficult to copy vocally and they must have permission as she's still active and could easily sue (or complain about the rip-off if it was a copycat lift) :)

All very hectic ta, having to squeeze Xmas into 12 days! :lol: My own fault, though...I do insist on having holidays (and then seeing everyone when I get back). :) Yes 33 weeks now for Feel, it's done better than every track on the album in my charts now, bar New London Boy, and got no higher than 4 - which makes it the most successful record in my All-Time Top-"Selling" 1000 to never make the top 3, and it's outdone dozens of PSB chart-toppers. People Watching is a great record, it's chart-position doesn't reflect how good it is, my chart needs another clear-out, so Xmas will be handy for putting new releases on hold! Phew! :D
