Darius – Colour Blind

I do not believe that all of the people voting 'Colourblind' are voting purely based on the song itself (although I know some are...)

Colourblind was a very popular song in the summer of 2002 - I think it was in the charts for about 16 weeks with a re-entry, so it's not unreasonable for 19 of the 100+ thousand people who obviously liked it enough to go out and buy it, to rank it as their favourite from a small list of 20 songs. It's also not unreasonable to find people on here who didn't like it at all either - we all have different tastes/things we like and dislike etc...

I do understand where you (and other people) are coming from in your belief that not everyone is voting based on the song itself though, it does seem odd that it comes out top with several people in a small environment like this, but, it also seems equally odd to me that even more people didn't even include it in their top 20's at all. Maybe to an extent whether it's been voted top of the list, or left out completely, that's partly due to reactions to each others perspectives - i.e. you said yourself, you felt the need to vote, to try and ensure Colourblind didn't win, so deliberately left it out of your list with that objective in mind. So there could well have been a conscious or even unconscious tussle going on - if so, then I think that's a sad state of affairs really :( - especially if it has less to do with the actual song and is a tussle about an 'artist' or their 'image' - that seems to be playing a part when it shouldn't because it's meant to be about voting for your favourite record i.e. the song.

e.g.

I can't believe Darius did'nt win :o :D

Feel should've won though ;)

It's interesting that you've referred to 'Darius' on the one hand; and yet 'Feel' on the other there Scotty ;) :)

I felt the song wasn't deserving enough, yes, but I didn't leave it out of my list deliberately to stop it getting more points, if I liked it enough I would have included it in regardless of whether I felt it didn't deserve to win. Truth is, I don't mind the song but I didn't want it to win - but that's a seperate issue to how I chose my votes. :)

 yes, i should've phrased it differently. I meant Feel by Robbie should've won. I am not keen on Whenever whatever but it is a good song i suppose. I really and truely would've bet my life that Darius would've won :o He got 20 points by so many fo you fans.

Well you did say:

I understood your motivation was because you feel other songs deserve it more, but if you're trying to alter the result because you don't want it to win, it's still not a straight forward vote for the songs you like best without anything else having influenced your choices. As I've said already, I think whether consciously or not - it's works both ways - and it's a shame either way. As it happens, I like the song that has won this particular poll, but if I didn't, or even thought it was complete pants! I wouldn't go out of my way to try and ensure it didn't win - I'd just continue to vote for what I like and accept that more people like something different to me.

 I didn't mean it that way lol! - I just meant that you referred to the 'artist' instead of the 'song' for Darius, whereas you referred to the 'song' in Robbie's case ... it made me wonder whether, consciously or unconsiously, it wasn't the song, so much as 'Darius' that you didn't want to see win - But maybe there's something even more subconscious going on than that then heheh ;) :P

I take it the results of this poll are a combination of votes on here and on Chart Clarity.

Now this may be a bit sad but I can see by the total votes for Gareth that my vote on both sites has only been counted once.

I happen to use the same username on both sites but there are some people who have different names on each site. It appears to me that the votes from those people have been counted twice

Its obvious this makes no difference in the voting for Gareth, but it may have changed the results for other artists

Just an observation

Yay for Pink and Shakira  That Daniel Bedingfield song is truly awful though :puke2:

I agree. Whenever Wherever and Just Like A Pill are both great songs. I've never understood why that dreary Beddingfield ballad is so popular though.

Ugh I hate Dirrty with a passion!

Great top 3 though - one of the best so far despite 2002 being a $h!t year.

Woooo for Shakira! One of the best songs of that year :cheer:
