February 23, 200718 yr Thanks :) Anyone know who the support is/are? xXx I've heard it's Black Rebel Motorcycle Club..
February 23, 200718 yr I've heard it's Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.. I loved that band in 2004, lol... never knew anything about them after then, though :(
February 23, 200718 yr I've heard it's Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.. It was, they were very good. The gig itself was excellent, me and my Mum were the first 2 people there... we arrived at 3pm! Stuck outside in the rain for 3.5 hours, wasn't so fun. But it was so worth it, we were right at the front and had an excellent time. They did 19 songs, all of which were brilliant, but the Intro/Sam's Town was easily the best bit of the night for me. My Mum even got one of Dave's picks! She was over the moon :). xXx

She was over the moon :). xXx i think this review is of the gig you went to? : Thursday 22/02/07 The Killers, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club @ Glasgow SECC Email a friend Print Page by Jonathan Geddes on 26/02/2007 The Killers and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club make an unlikely combination, the glitz of The Killers being a stark contrast to BRMC’s gloomy rock. However, while BRMC’s support set may not have won them many new fans it was nevertheless solid. New single ‘Weapon Of Choice’ stood out, a marriage of the heavy psychedelic feel from their first album and the rootsier mood of their third album. They close with an oldie, ‘Whatever Happened To My Rock N Roll (Punk Song)’, a track that is still as fiery and incendiary as it was upon first listen. An expectant buzz starts to rise after they depart, anticipation for The Killers is growing. Having sold out in ridiculously quick time there’s no doubting the demand, which is perhaps odd as while the Killers may be a great singles band they’re yet to deliver an album that stands up all the way through. ‘Hot Fuss’ suffers from being overloaded in its first half and falling away later on, while ‘Sam’s Town’ is heavily overproduced, making it rather soulless. Despite that The Killers are clearly now in the upper pantheon of bands. As proof a lengthy, dramatic video unfolds before the band step on stage, heightening the tension further. Finally, they arrive… and everything goes flat. The opening tracks from Sam’s Town ensure the beginning is more predictable than anything else while the cutting disco/synth pop of ‘Bones’ and ‘Somebody Told Me’ are dispatched in a manner that is merely clinical. Vocalist Brandon Flowers has thankfully ditched the wannabee Bruce Springsteen look he adopted last year, instead strutting about in a tuxedo. The rest of the band seem assured, guitarist Dave Keuning throwing various rock god poses at regular intervals, especially when any guitar solos are needed. However, like the early salvo of music there’s something hollow about the posturing and things aren’t clicking. The band offer little in the way of conversation between tracks, adding to the detached feel. The venue is also to blame, a vast hall that sucks the atmosphere up and spits it away. Then there’s the crowd. Any time an album track is rolled out many turn around and have a chat, like the group who spent plenty of time discussing the fortunes of Rangers football club and hardly any on the band. Just when things are slipping away, the tide turns. Flowers' lyrics may be patchy in places but he’s got a aptitude for conjuring great hooks and booming choruses. ‘Read My Mind’ is stunning, the excess flab on the album version working in such a cavernous capacity and though ‘This River Is Wild’ veers dangerously close to Meatloaf territory it triumphs, a fist pumping number of the highest order. The oldies start to sound super charged, the synth heavy ‘Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine’ oozing malevolence while ‘Mr Brightside’ is a rumbling indie dancefloor war machine, obliterating all in its path. The band are rolling now, every track feeling like it’s off a Greatest Hits. The encore sees ‘For Reasons Unknown’ rip by at lighting pace and the impassioned call to arms that is ‘All These Things That I’ve Done’ being a genuine arms aloft, cigarette lighter in the air moment. Despite the slow start, the Killers hit their stride when it mattered and proved their rise to being a arena band is not without merit. http://www.gigwise.com/contents.asp?contentid=28459 Edited February 28, 200718 yr by Azro
