February 9, 200718 yr Thanks TT - just been reading the reports of the after show discussion. I'd loved to have been there I love discussions. The wheelchair thing, I think, came about by someone asking how people entered the stage area from backstage and Will said "I came in a wheelchair today" it was just the way he fell about laughing after he said it and the vision I have of Will wheeling himself around  One question which stuck in my mind was when someone asked Jo about the negative reviews and whether she took any notice of them and she said she hadn't read any of the reviews and that she thought they didn't matter for this theatre as tickets were sold by word of mouth I believed her from the way she said it. She actually cut into the question and said 'can I stop you there' or something like that as if she didn't want to know any more about the reviews as she hadn't read them. Bums on seats are important no matter where in the country you are - critics can be so wrong and have been many times. Jo directs the way she thinks - she doesn't need to read critics telling her she's wrong :P Sounds interesting though. Wish I could have been there. Edited February 9, 200718 yr by munchkin
February 9, 200718 yr Just thought I'd bring the new poster over. Thanks to Maggie on Devoted. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v288/maggie3/DSCN2580.jpg Thanks TT I wonder if you can buy that poster [but a smaller version] like you could the old one
February 9, 200718 yr Thanks TT I wonder if you can buy that poster [but a smaller version] like you could the old one Must admit I wondered that too, but after the last lot I haven't any more room on my walls!!!
February 9, 200718 yr Author Thanks for the reports BYM&M's and munchkin, I wouldn't mind one of those outside posters either, wonder if Regina from the Sham is going with her screwdriver?
February 9, 200718 yr Author A lovely pic from Scooby-doo taken Wednesday. http://img250.imageshack.us/img250/6928/vortex2oe4.jpg
February 10, 200718 yr we went again last night :P at the beginning a lady came out and announced that Bunty had had an accident and would be using a stick :( so they had to change a few of her scenes a bit because she was not able to get around the stage. Later in the play when all the cast are dancing, Nicky is talking to Bunty [instead of the usual dancing] and they are supposed to be arguing by the piano....but you cant hear them..... the main focus is the cast who are dancing on the stage ....He obviously thinks no one is watching .......... Nicky kicks her stick petulantly [which was obviously not part of the scene] At which point Bunty bursts out laughing, she tried to compose herself and carry on the argument...but she looks at Will and starts giggling again...it was so funny

Maybe her leg/ankle went from under her and she fell. What a trooper though - the show must go on - well done her and pleased that Will got her laughing too. Thanks for that BYM&Ms - :D Edited February 10, 200718 yr by munchkin
February 10, 200718 yr She was obviously in a lot of pain, she had real difficulty sitting down and keeping the pain from showing on her face and her voice lacked its usual power.... I felt for her as she struggled through the play....but she still did brilliantly, I really did admire her tenacity and determination
February 10, 200718 yr Author This just posted on Devoted. :o Just had message from Rose,Diana's had a bad asthma attack and can't perform tonight, so Jo Coombes is playing Florence, will be difficult for Jo and Will I should imagine. They were going to cancel but Jo bless her stepped in, what a brave lady. Let you know if I hear anymore. It's going to be really difficult for Will and especially for Jo tonight.
February 10, 200718 yr She should pack the ciggies in - not good for asthmatics (or anyone else for that matter). :(
February 10, 200718 yr This too - also Bunty is on a walking stick tonight and Paunie has laryngitis.Oh dear!!!!! Will update if I hear more. Jean Playing opposite Jo is going to test Will's acting skills - she's the same age :P Hope everything goes off OK - that's three things so hopefully they will have broken the bad luck. They are off tomorrow until Monday evening so it will give them a bit of a rest. Update - thanks to Rexgirl: Jo has gone on with the book...what a trooper as the show was going to be cancelled tonight. The show didn't go up until 8.20,so will have a later finish. I don't know if Diana did have an asthma attack,I just know she fainted and was taken to hospital. Luckily her husband and daughter were with her. I hope Diana is ok - turned out a bit of a bad bad day for them. Update by Carly:Well apparently Diana's coming back on for the second half. Apparently Diana was amazing for the second half but she looked very ill by the end and in need of getting off the stage. Another update from JH: Just heard from Rose Will has played a blinder tonight funnier then ever, owned the stage, nearly swallowed his fag when dancing and really, really up for it. That was interval time,if I get another update I will let you know. Said Poor Diana had been to Hospital Jean Edited February 10, 200718 yr by munchkin
February 10, 200718 yr Thanks for all the updates munchkin. We should have known Will would rise to the ocassion. ;) Thank goodness they all have a days rest tomorrow.
February 10, 200718 yr Thanks for all the updates, i really do hope Diana and the rest of the cast are ok! I can't wait to see it now!
February 11, 200718 yr Just a couple of little snippets: Another text W's in the bar now with friends wearing t-shirt,waistcoat and jeans.Peeps there taking pics Jean Sunday Wrote: Just got back...what a night I felt for Jo ..then Bunty walks on with her stick...but they all handled it brilliantly..I thought Diane looked ill as she went off stage at the end she was clutching her chest it was funny when Will first made his entrance...where he and florence run to each other... but Jo missed her cue and Will just stood there smiling [ trying with his eyes to get her to come over ]...but she was looking at her notes... so he just ran to her....he did amazingly well...so proud of him. It must have been a challenge for him because Bunty could barely get around the stage because of her injury ...so she stood or sat most of the time ...and Will is running around the piano on his own..dancing on his own....trying to make witty comments to Jo who is looking down at the script all the time But you would not believe how well he pulled it off And another: Thanks to Maggie. I popped in for the second half as someone pointed out to me that I could get there easily enough and it would be interesting to see Jo as Florence. As soon as I got there I saw Diana's husband in the foyer. I was told straight away that Diana would be going on for the second half but I was offered a spare seat in Row D which I didn't need to pay for as it was just for the second half so I decided to stay anyway. Apparently they'd been within a whisker of cancelling the whole performance. You really wouldn't have known Diana was ill when she came on other than that she was shaking a bit to start with, I guess adrenalin kept her going. I didn't notice any difference in Will's performance, he didn't let the fact that he knew she was ill affect his acting. Poor Diana though, she looked so incredibly drained at the end. She could barely raise a smile. Bunty looked as though she was really in pain in the brief section she was on in the second half. I was told by the others I knew there that Will had really come into his own and absolutely taken charge in the first half like a true professional. Thanks to all the kind peeps on Devoted for their reports and reviews and updates. :cheer:  Edited February 11, 200718 yr by munchkin
February 11, 200718 yr Author Only just got in from a party, well what a crazy night it must have been at the REX then, sounds like Will played a blinder tonight, let's hope the casualties are feeling a lot better after a rest day tomorrow.
February 11, 200718 yr Is there nothing he can't do  What i found amazing is that he didn't even look fazed by it :o ...I would have been wetting myself
