Interesting post from Lils on Devoted.

Last night after quickly making a hasty trip to the RE after accompanying my Daughter to see her idol at the MEN, on enquiring if WiLL was still there at the RE a really nice guy who works at the Re told me that WiLL was to be doing his acceptance speech this morning [sat'day morning ] within the rather grand building should WiLL win., lets hope so

Btw, once again I missed WiLL. The RE guy told me that WiLL had gone out on a bizness meeting after the evenings perf with his agent [or someone important ]

What a night to have his agent in the audience. Wonder if this could mean they have more offers to consider.

I've just been reading all the reports from last night, whan an absolute star Will is http://www.devotedfansnetwork.com/forums/images/smilies/tyty.gif and well done to all of the cast for carrying on with the show.http://www.devotedfansnetwork.com/forums/images/smilies/clap2.gif
Will's agent was there when I met him on 24 January. She was very nice and she sat next to NannyT who was mortified when she discovered who she had been raving on about Will to!

Are you sure it wasn't NannyT's twin sister Dot?

This time I think it was Janice as it was only a week after the opening - she hadn't got into her stride then! :D

Well I hope all the cast are feeling hunky dory today and fully recovered from saturday's walking wounded performance. :dancing:

Just a little snippet back from one of the girls from last night:

It was very good

Florence got her foot caught in her dress as she was running to greet Nicky, thought she was going to go arse over tit, but she caught herself just in time and Nicky said something like "what are you doing mother?"

Bunty was still on her stick, she could hardly move at all which lent itself nicely to Will's solo comedy dancing

There were two first timers there last night whose reports I am muchly looking forward to later

Love his little off-the-cuff remarks - makes it all seem much more true to life. :D

Apparently Laura has a torn ligament - very nasty - but still she went on - even though in pain and hobbling around. What a star.

Love it

He seems to have really settled well into the character - shows how comfortable he is with his co-stars.

I dont think I have seen this review  :D

Will Young in The Vortex

THE one thing that can certainly be said about Will Young is that he is full of surprises.

Critics of the Pop Idol superstar may have doubted his staying power as a musical artist and would not have dreamed of his acting success.

But the 28-year-old has been a constant presence in the charts since winning the TV singing show five years ago and is currently making his stage debut to great acclaim in Noel Coward's The Vortex at the Royal Exchange in Manchester.

The play holds a mirror to glamorous and decadent 1920s society and shows the darkness behind the dazzling façade.

Its 1924 premiere caused a real stir and was almost banned because of its depiction of drug taking and adulterous characters.

Young plays Nicky Lancaster, a part that Coward penned for himself, with surprising stage presence and seemed to capture the troubled musician's charm, disillusionment and vulnerability effortlessly.

The final scene, in which Nicky confronts his mother about her string of younger lovers and admits to dabbling in drugs, makes for a moving finale as each character finally lets their mask slip.

Diana Hardcastle is superb as Nicky's beautiful but shallow mother Florence, tryng in vain to cling on to her fading youth and elegance.

Her performance as the whirling socialite is packed with energy, tension and emotion.

Alexandra Mathie, who plays Florence's sensible friend Helen, and David Peart, who plays Florence's long-suffering husband, are perfect counterpoints to the strained social butterfly.

The action of The Vortex, directed by Jo Combes, is set on an elegant but stark black and white stage, which summarises the insubstantial nature of the world and characters presented.

The Vortex plays until March 10 and for tickets, priced between £8 and £27.50, ring 0161 615 6815.

Posted by Rexgirl on Devoted...I do hope she is better soon, I love the way she portrays Bunty :D

Laura is off tonight. Hopefully if she can rest her leg she will be better later in the week.

There is a new actress Rosina on the book tonight.

She does have a costume and hopefully she will learn quickly.
