January 7Jan 7 Looks like the Ultimate Christmas Classic poll will need to be redone - a certain song which was left out of that is getting its justice here for sure! Mariah outdid The Darkness by more than 3:2 in that poll too.

It is Mark’s only #1 though he has had 3 #2s, and for Bruno it’s still his most recent chart topper. Its mammoth #1 run was interrupted for a week by Ben Haenow’s “Something I Need”, the last X Factor winner’s single to top the charts.

It was Greg Lake’s only solo hit, though he reached #2 again a couple of years later as part of Emerson, Lake and Palmer. 15 of us placed it in our Top 5 here, and it very narrowly missed a Top 3 placing.
January 8Jan 8 If I didn't place the restriction of no Christmas songs on myself this one would've been in my top 5. Great festive song
January 8Jan 8 Ah, there goes my top pointer! Thrilled that 'I Believe In Father Christmas' has performed so well in this rate.
January 8Jan 8 Just did it for a laugh icl  I assumed all the big ones would've done well without my votes anyway.
January 8Jan 8 I think I voted for all of this top 10, love seeing I Believe in Father Christmas do so well, remains one of the most beautiful and thoughtful Christmas songs, I pity Spotify's boring Americanised playlists for ignoring it x I'd be cool with any of the top 3 winning, though I guess The Pogues would be most appropriate.
January 8Jan 8 This is my first time hearing either the Housemartins or Greg Lake songs - both very nice! My dad did used to occasionally sing the first two lines of the Greg Lake song but I didn't know what it was. Would have given it double figures of points if I'd known it at the start of this rate!
January 8Jan 8 Mark Robson :heehee: Great to see that and Greg in the Top 5, the latter despite the 2 peak never gets a look in with all the classics :(
January 9Jan 9 Ah Greg Lake, the first record I ever bought with my own pocket money. It was partly a fruitless attempt to get it to Christmas number one ahead of Queen. Thinking back that was probably the start of my lifelong love affair with the UK charts! It’s still my favourite Christmas song, really beautiful with bittersweet lyrics, that are still very relevant to our modern world (sadly). So pleased and surprised at Jeff Buckley placing so high. That’s one of my favourite songs of all time, never mind number 2s at Christmas. Fantastic work guys! Edited January 9Jan 9 by Jaz13music

January 9Jan 9 Patience top 3? Would never ever have called that but it's a great song so rooting for either that or the Pogues to win. Massively unpopular opinion but I hate the Jeff Buckley version of Hallelujah.

It spent 4 weeks at #1 before being knocked off by the X Factor winner’s single from Leona Lewis. Here it received points from 28 of 36 voters, the most of any song.
January 9Jan 9 Impressive result for Take That! I'm not that fussed on their 90s material ('Back For Good' aside) but the comeback was on point; 'Patience' is my favourite song of theirs.
