Hugo Keenan scored a last-minute try against Australia to win a classic Test match and seal a series victory for the British and Irish Lions at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

In front of a record Lions crowd of more than 90,000, there was nail-biting tension all evening during a game for the ages. Even when Keenan scored, there was a television match official check that would have had every Lions fan quaking in their boots.

The boss of World Rugby has rejected Australia coach Joe Schmidt's claim that the decision at the end of the second Test against the British and Irish Lions contravened the sport's player welfare drive.

The officials decided not to overturn Hugo Keenan's series-winning try after reviewing a clearout in the build-up from flanker Jac Morgan as the Lions snatched a late victory in a compelling contest at the MCG.

Centre Garry Ringrose has been ruled out of the British and Irish Lions' third Test against Australia on Saturday as he continues to recover from a head injury.

On Thursday, Ringrose withdrew from Andy Farrell's starting XV for the second Test after feeling the effects of concussion in training.

The 30-year-old, who was replaced by Huw Jones for the Lions' dramatic 29-26 series-clinching victory in Melbourne, also missed out on possible selection for the first Test because of a head injury.

Relentless Hull poured more misery on Salford as their makeshift, cobbled-together team were hammered 80-6.

The hosts scored six tries in 15 first-half minutes alone as they breezed to a 50-0 lead at the break, with Tom Briscoe notching his 100th try for the club in the second half.

The match was bordering on the farcical at times as Salford understandably looked like a team full of strangers who had no answer to the hosts, who ran in 14 tries in total - four of them from Lewis Martin.

The Red Devils have been hampered by a financial crisis which this week saw Ryan Brierley and Jack Ormondroyd become the 12th and 13th players to leave the club.

Tane Edmed will start at fly-half for Australia when they face England at Allianz Stadium on Saturday, while Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii, Max Jorgensen and Taniela Tupou are all recalled following last weekend's win over Japan.

But with the fixture falling outside the official international window, the Wallabies are still without several European-based players, including fly-half James O'Connor, lock Will Skelton and centre Len Ikitau.

Jack Crowley has been named at fly-half in Ireland's much-anticipated Chicago rematch against New Zealand on Saturday (20:10 GMT), while returning captain Caelan Doris will start on the bench.

With Doris among the replacements, Jack Conan starts at number eight, while Dan Sheehan will skipper Ireland for the second time, having taken on the role in the Six Nations win over Wales earlier this year.

Sheehan is joined in the front row by Andrew Porter and Tadhg Furlong, who also started at tight-head prop in Ireland's historic win over the All Blacks at Soldier Field in 2016.

Wales captain Jac Morgan will miss the start of the 2026 Six Nations after dislocating his shoulder in the autumn series opener against Argentina at the start of November.

The 25-year-old flanker has undergone surgery, with Ospreys head coach Mark Jones saying the British and Irish Lion now faces "four to five months" on the sidelines.

Wales kick-off their campaign away to England on 7 February before home matches against France on 15 February and Scotland a week later.

If his rehabilitation goes well, Morgan could potentially have a chance of returning for the final two games against Ireland on 6 March and Italy on 14 March.
