I've always thought Dylan to be one of the world's most overrated musicians.... like Lou Reed, Iggy Pop and to some extent Bowie, it's almost blasphemy to say you don't like them.

Well, I hate Dylan's dreary run-of-the-mill music... all of it, and I'm not afraid to say it.

And as for the Nanas... hands off my Bananas, Rob, or things could get nasty.... :P

lol.. i think we have alot of common ground m8... i agree on a personal level about dylan, iggy, reed and heavens above even bowie! im not keen on any of their music myself... but they do seem to have influenced alot of people..

but the League never left Sheffield.... Virgin London went to them.

True...never said they did...just think how much earlier they could have been having hits if they'd come from the capital.

Anyhoo, my argument's kinda thin now :)

Scott, I didn't say I personally don't like Lou Reed (although he's made some God-awful records in his time)...I was lumping him in with that elite band of artists it's almost illegal to deny liking.

Bob Dylan is mine... I can't stand him - his voice alone makes my skin crawl. Another like this is Leonard Cohen, and, to some degree, Nick Cave.....

I totally agree that Gary Numan was a Bowie copyist (via the Berlin/Eno years 1977-79 - Low, Heroes & Lodger albums).

However, you have to give him credit for being an early electronic commercial success in 1979 pre-dating the synth-pop successes of the Human League, Joy Division & early OMD, etc.

He has also made a few tracks that stand the test of time:

My favourite is:

Down In The Park (1979)
