After he left Genesis in 1975 he embarks on a solo career. Early hits included Solsbury hill , Games without frontiers and Biko.

His groundbreaking and award winning video for sledgehammer brought him back in vogue in the mid 80's, along with his duet Don't give up with Kate Bush and Big time.

Not many big hits since then but still active.

his work with ex-Cocteau Twin and Massive Attack vocalist Elizabeth Fraser is sublime, too.

A friend of mine went to his studio in Bath - it's space-age by all accounts, situated on the edge of a huge lake with windows overlooking the water.

I actually loved "While The Earth Sleeps" his collaboration with Deep Forest too. He's got a really dynamic voice, it works well in all types of songs. He may not have had recent hits but he's got a HUGE middle-age following and thoser are the people who buy £100 concert tickets.

I'm a big fan of his 3rd Peter Gabriel album (from 1980) & So.

But my favourite Peter Gabriel song excluding the Kate Bush duet is:

Here Comes The Flood (taken from the 1st Peter Gabriel album from 1977) (performance taken from 1979 Kate Bush Xmas Special)
