9 February 2015 saw the official release of 'Living for Love', the lead single from 'Rebel Heart'. It had previously been available as a free download alongside the album pre-order in December 2014 after 13 demos leaked onto the internet. The song was produced with Diplo and Ariel Rechtshaid, with Alicia Keys on piano and Annie from the London Community Gospel Choir providing background vocals. Chart success was moderate, achieving Top 40 positions in Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK, as well as becoming Madonna's 44th #1 on the US Dance Club Songs chart. The song is best remembered for a certain BRIT Awards performance...

Great song , some incredible remixes!

Should have been bigger !!!

It's a decent song, not one of her best but also not one of her worst either. I was very surprised when it didn't go top 10 tbh, I think it deserved that at least.

Deserved to be a top 10 hit! Although I always knew it was gonna be an uphill struggle for her at that point.

Not the best Madonna lead single. Not a very interesting video. Followed an album of singles that didn't make the Top 30. Think it was released mid-week. Disastrous Brits performance. Not playlisted by Radio 1.

I think it did well to go as high as #26.

This was such a step-up from 'Give Me All Your Luvin''. The production is strong and I think it helps that there's a real piano being played, it's just a shame that the vocals are super processed (they sound much better on earlier demos). It's annoying that the release was disrupted by the leaks as the promotion for the song was the best since 'Hung Up'! I thought it did well to reach #26 (#17 on sales) given the lack of radio support, but maybe it could have done better if the song hadn't been available to listen to since December.

The video has a distinct look/theme, although I find the content a little basic, not many great shots of Madonna. Again, it's a shame to see so many filters used. She definitely nailed it with 'Ghosttown'.

I remember playing this mash-up with Haddaway's 'What is Love' a lot at the time:
