yesterday on Fallon, Ed confirmed that new album is called Play

and is the start of a new theme, with 4 more albums with titles such as ‘Pause’, ‘Rewind’, ‘Fast Forward’ and ‘Stop’.

The first single off of ‘Play’ is called 'Azizam’ — which translates to ‘my dear’ in the Farsi language. — and will be released on April 4.

He also mentuoned he's gonna do 10 albums and then stop. But doesn't fit with my counting. Guess he's not considering the Collaborations album, but either Autumn Variations.

He also mentioned a posthomous GH called Eject to be released when he dies :o

I think the point here is that the same 4 posters come in every time Ed Sheeran has a new release and say the same opinions and it’s tedious for those that aren’t biased in their opinions about him an

Yeah he's probably not counting side projects and only those within the "main series".

So Plus, Multiply, Divide, Equals and Subtract is five. Play plus the other four takes you to ten.

Yeah if your talking the Jimmy fallon interview he mentioned 10 main albums +, -, x, ÷, = , then play, pause, rewind , fast forward ,stop,

He then mentioned side project as everyone does them , even mentioned he slowly recording a posthumous one that would be called Eject

Themes, not counting albums, I just find him so pretentious. Let’s just go straight to Stop and leave it there.

I could maybe understand (but not really) not counting the Duets albums that had Cardi B, Bieber, Camil

but Autumn variations was a proper album. I'm sure that if it had been a hit with people, it would have been the start of a new series and we'd be getting the Winter, Spring and Summer Variations but alas...

He didn't really push Autumn Variations at all though.

Autumn variation was the very definition of a side project he literally threw it out and disappeared again 🤣🤣

You have to admire his belief that people will still be interested in 5 albums time! He's effectively planned his next ten years of music output.

Having said that, his new single does sound like a bop.

And why does that matter? Many artists don’t push albums. They’re still albums.

agree, for me it doesn't make sense. by this logic, he will keep releasing albums forever and ever

and if they flop, they're side projects :D

Autumn Variations counts as a studio album for sure, but I think a distinction can be made between those Ed really pushes and those Ed doesn't. That doesn't mean it had literally nothing to promote it, Ed's name enough is already big promotion and it got to #1, but it had no lead single in advance, the eventual lead single wasn't given a big push, and no further promotion after release. A stark contrast from Ed's other albums, even - had more of a push than that and that was lower key than those that preceded it.

I don't think it's unreasonable to see that and No.6 Collaborations Project as side projects, whether you count them as part of his run of studio albums or not, but ultimately, does the number of studio albums really matter? His journey as an artist is definitely more clearly tracked through his "main" albums whereas those two are a little further away from his usual stuff (more so in some of the album tracks from No.6 than the hit singles). This is why I find this debate, every time it crops up, rather pointless, because I think it's clear what's meant when No.6 and Autumn Variations are thought of differently.

Well obviously not really but he’s the one that keeps bringing numbers into and telling people what counts. No one would really care if he didn’t do that.

That's fair, Ed himself doesn't really help the confusion (and tends to be the one creating it) tearsmile

There is a distinct difference between the promotion campaign of Subtract and Equals than Autumn Variations.

He did very much put it out with little fanfare. Meanwhile with Subtract at least Eyes Closed got a push.

There may be a distinct difference in promotion but that doesn’t alter what the product is at all.

Unannounce it stat x

His big ego was just copying Taylor. It's all astroturf stuff with him. Totally false.

All the vinyl variants, all the signed stuff for Autumn variation... did I dream it? :D

Doesn’t matter what this sounds like we all know what the opinions of people here will be like. Those opinions are very much already polarised and set in stone. Eg, Bjork is guaranteed to say ‘those lyrics are like a 12 year old wrote them’

None of this changes what's been said though?
