After almost seven months (! - apologies for the extremely long delay x) welcome to the results for BuzzJack's Ultimate TV Show!

It's time to find out what BuzzJack has voted the best TV show in the land, and with a staggering 541 TV shows voted for I'll be counting down the top 100 with commiserations to those that missed out too.

Before we begin counting down the top 100, above is a table of all the TV shows voted for that didn't make it in! cry

Great to see these at last!

I've gotta say had I actually finished Twin Peaks' original run before I voted, I'd have probably put it much higher and may have pushed it into the top 100 (I'm still working through the third season, although it is quite distinct from it in many ways). It's an iconic show with some of the strangest, most effective scenes in TV history, definitely went through a rough patch in the second season, but overall a phenomenal show, I can't imagine how audiences at the time would've responded to it.

There are several other shows in there I ranked very highly but I'm not shocked to see them out - I do want to shout out Utopia as an all time favourite show of mine that will forever be an under the radar gem that was cruelly stopped yet gave us such a unique looking, gripping show with a wonderfully deep mystery and characterisation in the short time it was around. Watching it now will seem odd given it's subject matter (bear in mind it's from 2013 x) but I do highly recommend it. I'm pleased at the cult following it got, even if that meant an unnecessary US remake.

96 Beautiful People 68 points

97 Downton Abbey 65 points [higher top score]

98 Pointless 65 points [more votes; lower top score]

99 Coronation Street 65 points [less votes]

100 After Life 64 points

The less said about #100 the better given its writer and creator's stance and comments over the last few days so I'm going to skip over After Life making it into the top 100 here. One of the big soaps makes it into the top 100 - Coronation Street just making it in there. With a rich history that Joseph dies on a hill defending constantly it continues on ITV almost nightly keeping up with the residents on the cobbles and tackling some hard-hitting storylines. Daytime TV show Pointless - hosted by Alexander Armstrong - makes it in, one that BuzzJack members will be all too familiar with taking part in our own versions across the forum. Period drama Downton Abbey ran for 5 series from 2010 to 2015 and has also spawned two feature-length films proving quite the hit with viewers on Sunday evenings; averaging over 10 million viewers for the majority of its run. And closing this section off we have BBC Two comedy drama series Beautiful People that ran for two series between 2008-9 starring a much younger Layton Williams - who many will recognise now from Bad Education, Strictly Come Dancing and the West End - about dreaming of escaping to the city and living amongst the... beautiful people.

By the way, FYI, if a show pops up and it's not the correct show or the correct version then I'll have made an assumption on what show was being voted for given the lack of specification in the votes. Fairly sure After Life will be the only example of this to have made the top 100 though and now wishing I'd chosen to go with 2005-06 TV series Afterlife sarah

91 Fleabag 71 points [higher top score]

92 Severance 71 points [lower top score]

93 Avatar: The Last Airbender 69 points [higher top score]

94 Sex Education 69 points [lower top score]

95 The Fosters 68 points

Family drama series The Fosters is up next, following the lives of the Adams-Foster family; a lesbian couple Stef and Lena, a biological son Brandon and four adopted children Callie, Mariana, Jesus and Jude. The Fosters didn't shy away from exploring difficult themes during its five season run split between two different networks and always portrayed LGBTQ+ themes sensitively. The show eventually led to spin-off series Good Trouble too which sadly didn't make it into the top 100! The Fifteenth Doctor himself Ncuti Gatwa captured the nation's attention with his role as Eric in Sex Education, another show that explored some excellent themes over its four seasons. Sex, culture, coming out, relationships, consent, and more were always at the forefront of this bold show that seemed to really lose its way with its final instalment. Some iconic moments it did give us nonetheless. I shan't specify which version of Avatar: The Last Airbender this is that's made it into the top 100 - perhaps Chez or Iz can kink - but either way you have an American animated series that began in 2005 and the epic Netflix adaptation that was released in 2024 with a premise of telekinetic powers to manipulate the elements of the Earth that is very intriguing. Headed by Adam Scott, Apple TV+ series Severance also makes it into the list, joined by Phoebe Waller-Bridge's two series comedy drama Fleabag which currently holds a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes!

86 The Good Place 73 points [more votes]

87 Sabrina the Teenage Witch 73 points [less votes; more votes]

88 The Sarah Jane Adventures 73 points [less votes; higher top score]

89 Pokémon 73 points [lower top score]

90 Robot Wars 72 points

At #90 - and the only one in this section not to need a tie broken - is Robot Wars, a British TV series that involves remote-control robots battling each other in arenas with obstacles and other robots. It originally ran for 6 years from 1998 to 2004 before returning in 2016 before cancellation in 2018 and was a success around the world. Pokémon is undoubtedly one of the most recognisable Japanese franchises since its inception in the 1990s, and since then has spawned so many other media formats, even causing Pokémania and despite backlash and criticisms the animated series holds up and is enjoyable escapism for many. When Sarah Jane Smith returned to Doctor Who in 2006 I don't think anybody would have imagined a whole new generation would fall in love with her and her extended family as much as we did over five series of The Sarah Jane Adventures before Elisabeth Sladen's untimely death. Away from its parent show, SJA had so much warmth and was a flagship show for CBBC, inviting younger viewers into the Whoniverse and showing just how exciting, amazing and wonderful life can be after the Doctor when you find your people.

Not to be confused with The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Sabrina the Teenage Witch was a fantasy sitcom series that (beyond her smaller-scale previous work) introduced the world to Melissa Joan Hart, and gave everybody seven seasons of comfort-watching in the late 90s and early 00s and also birthing iconic characters in Hilda, Zelda and Salem the cat. Finally in this section, we have The Good Place, which, for the most part was an incredible fantasy/comedy series that knew what it wanted to do, told the stories it wanted to tell, and stopped before it became too much or started flogging a dead horse. For four seasons, we saw major twists and turns as the dead navigated the afterlife (in the good place or the bad place? 🤷‍♂️) with an unforgettable twist at the end of its first season that saw us go on an epic journey from there with a really solid group of characters that you couldn't not root for.

That would likely be the 2005 animation for Avatar, as that is a beloved classic with some of the best, most mature storytelling and character development in any animated childrens show...and the 2024 version is a shameless, pointless cash grab xx

Severance only had one season at the time of this voting but I'd likely rank it higher now it stuck the landing a second time, still early days but interested to see where it goes from here now it's everyone's new favourite show (I liked it before it was cool B-))

Fleabag is an excellent show, hilarious but also so down to earth and tragic.

obviously far too many of my shows in that lower rank but I expected that - I'm rewatching/going through Attack On Titan with Jacob right now and he's loving it (plus I'm remembering just how many GREATEST TV MOMENT OF ALL TIME moments it has so if I was doing it now I might rank it higher than I did but that's a given, rankings like this are so transient in time). Also all the anime shows I voted for are all very worth it (and AWW at The Expanse just falling short).

Avatar: The Last Airbender, the 2005 show is an honestly perfect story of a hero's journey TV show beginning to end, so well-paced, and all future adaptations of it are taboo, 'may your favourite animated show get a Netflix adaptation' is as ever a curse. Looking forward to the day they try ultimate blasphemy with Pokemon (though I haven't heard too much heresy about the Detective Pikachu film, never watched it though).

Severance is a name I am keeping an eye on with interest but not started yet, I'm sure I will love it based on what little I have heard about it. Looking forward to seeing which consensus shows further up the rankings I'm into.

SJA is such a special show, it went above and beyond what a kids show could've been and was mature beyond its years.

The Good Place is a show I'm well overdue a rewatch of!

83 The Handmaid's Tale 74 points [more votes]

84 Friday Night Dinner 74 points [less votes; higher top score]

85 Death Note 74 points [lower top score]

With a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, in at #85 is Death Note, a Japanese anime TV series based on the manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba. In 37 episodes over a series of two part a high school student wants to rid the world of evil and and anyone's name written in a notebook causes their death. Channel 4 sitcom Friday Night Dinner ran for six series from 2011 to 2020 and birthed iconic characters and catchphrases, following the lives of the Goodman family (and friends) on Friday nights trying to sit down to dinner but calamities always happening in between; sadly Martin actor Paul Ritter passed away in 2021 and the show paid tribute to him beautifully with documentary Ten Years and a Lovely Bit of Squirrel going behind the scenes on the making of the show. SHIT ON IT! SHALOM! HELLO JACKIE! American dystopian series The Handmaid's Tale has actually just aired its sixth and final season this month, based on the 1985 novel by Margaret Atwood, and is the highest of the three with the same number of points here. Not one I've actually seen but should probably get onto! And speaking of ones I haven't seen, finally here we have two sitcoms - Frasier and Seinfeld - occupying the final two spots outside the top 80.

76 The Chase 76 points [higher top score]

77 Match of the Day 76 points [lower top score; more votes]

78 Waterloo Road 76 points [less votes; higher top score]

79 Queer as Folk 76 points [lower top score; higher top score]

80 Big Brother Canada 76 points [lower top score]

A quarter of the way through the top 100 now, and up next we have a mix of some reality and drama. Big Brother Canada launched in 2013 and ran for twelve seasons before ending in 2024, hosted by Arisa Cox and becoming a favourite among fans of other international versions of the Big Brother franchise. Queer as Folk (1999; not to be confused with the American version) is one of many Russell T Davies-penned TV shows, this one following the lives of gay men in Manchester. Despite receiving mixed reviews at the time it was broadcast, it is now often listed among some of the top dramas of all time in countdowns and rankings. Waterloo Road was the pinnacle of drama shows set in a school, inspiring spin-offs like Ackley Bridge in the wake of its cancellation in 2015. There was a gap to be filled but it just didn't quite cut the mustard. When the show was added to BBC iPlayer so many people were watching for the first time or rewatching and falling in love with the show again that the show returned, having just concluded its fifth revival series with Lindsey Coulson at the helm as headteacher. Match of the Day is one of the BBC's longest running shows - it's been on air showing highlights of football since 1964 and continues to be a highlight itself for many football fans. And finally, The Chase - fronted by Bradley Walsh - sees four civilians (and sometimes celebrities in special editions) take on Chasers versed in the world of general knowledge and quizzing in an attempt to win a huge cash prize. The show has given us many a meme-able moment over the years and has become a staple of teatime TV.

Up next we have a show that had the troops rallying in their masses when Netflix made the decision to cancel it - One Day at a Time. A victim of COVID, the show was picked up for cable TV (the first original programme cancelled by Netflix and then revived on linear TV) for its fourth and ultimately final season, so at least we got more of the characters we'd come to love. Race Across the World has grown into a staple reality show for the BBC, following teams of two as they travel across, ahem, the world to try and reach a destination the fastest. There's also celebrity editions and although it's something I've not watched myself yet I absolutely must soon. The Apprentice has given us many iconic moments over its 20-year history and just last month concluded its nineteenth series. Lord Sugar, Karren Brady, Tim (COME BACK CLAUDE) and a bunch of delusional entrepreneurs for Thursday night TV at the start of the year, what more could you want? And rounding out this section we have historical drama Outlander based on the book series of the same name that's so far run for seven seasons and just renewed for an eighth and final, as well as the mammoth that is Star Trek.

Strange New Worlds is in the also-ran section so I'm assuming that's just the original 60s series - though possibly some voters of it meant for it to be everything.

I voted for both The Next Generation and DS9 so I hope they're both up high.

Yeah they're all separate in the results, didn't want to step on any toes just putting them all under the one umbrella kink
