Good for you davinza80  I think I'm right in saying the buzzjack votes will be combined with the votes over on Chartclarity, and over there they are all ignoring D completely!! So, I don't think it's cut and dry that D will win. We won't have D to vote for in the next three years, so we might as well stand up and be counted!!  It makes me feel better anyway!! :D

Surely it should have been made clear if this was a joint poll with a completely different music forum? Interesting concept.

Doesn't that mean that if someone is registered with a different name on there, they could quite feasibly have two votes?

It doesn't matter in the long run anyway. CB will never be allowed to win. It might fighten the horses!

does seem slightly odd doesnt it, surely it is mainly the same people who will be on both sites after CC closed, and as you say it will just be doubling the votes from those registered both places! I really don't have time or inclination to post on two forums that offer the same sort of thing, oh well as you say can't see CB winning anyway it was just a poll, not life and death :D
Hasa that combined idea been thought up so D shouldnt win? Nothing changes.

thanks, thisispop. what you say is right, and its only a game after all

isnt that so true, Preston, every time I hear a JB song playing, I think about how much better D's B sides and album tracks are, and how much more listenable his voice is! but unless the GBP have something pushed in their face as the next big thing, they never get the chance to even hear so many good songs (and not just by Darius) and funny how JB was totally ignored with these same songs before the big PR compain started for him!

ok anyone who hasnt voted for CB in the pop lounge, get yourself over there :P

But JB wasn't totally ignored.....before he hit the 'big time' there were a small bunch of us on his message-board who promoted him as best we could - round other general music forums, telling everyone we knew and contacting radio stations, largely without success. And he'd toured supporting Katie Melua - thus reaching a more mature audience than Darius has been 'aimed' towards. Gradually his music seemed to strike a chord with a lot of people and within no time his message-board just 'exploded'! Then came 'You're Beautiful' and he was off!! Now I can't keep up with the site it's so busy!!

From reading some of the other forums on here it seems JB is hated just as much as Darius, bizarre when you consider his album sales and the length of time it's been in the charts! Similarly to Darius tho, he's a really nice guy - maybe that's the problem!

Although I've supported JB from the start and love his music, I often wish Darius had been afforded the same breaks, but then it appears it's not the done thing to be a reality tv musician - it's so frowned upon by 'legitimate' music buffs. <_<

I really, wish Darius' B-sides had as wide an airing as JB now has as they ARE some of his best songs, but Colourblind will always hold a special place for me and, as such, deserved my top vote - I like a lot of the songs on that list, but would much prefer to listen to Colourblind before any of them! ^_^

Is that how it's being done? - or is it a separate one for each site?

Anyway, I'm a member over there too - so, I've posted my list there as well - I especially couldn't resist after reading the last post  I've got the same username as I have here. I've also posted a new Darius thread in the singer-songwriter forum over there :D

Maybe 'tip' does a separate poll for each Forum but as the voters on Chartclarity are also complaining that Darius will win and there are hardly any votes for D over there, I assumed the two sets of votes would be combined. Several people have voted in both polls though, so I could be totally wrong!! I'm sure 'tip' knows what he is doing!! :D

If it's a separate poll on there and they are snubbing Darius, he couldn't possibly win, so why would they need to moan?

Hello there I've just read an update of this thread.

The situation regarding the Record Of The Year Competition is as follows:

- I have posted in both sites (since the start of the Record Of The Decade competition) with Record Of The Year 1996 and the votes are combined from both here & CHC to give an overall result. However I exclude people's (2nd vote) if they have posted twice (once in each site), so if you have voted here, you have no need to post on CHC as I will exclude that vote.

Thanks to my good old excel spreadsheet - I am very aware of how the 2002 Record Of The Year competition is going. :)

I should add, if Darius finishes in the Top3, then Colourblind will qualify for the Record Of the Decade Final (1996-2005).

If Colourblind was to finish between 4th & 8th place then he will qualify for the Record Of the Decade playoffs - which will contain the other years' 4th to 8th placed songs and the Top20 from that would join the other 30 songs (Top3s each year) in the Record Of The Decade Final.

Just to let you know: For the play-offs & the final I'm likely to set a minimum number of posts (probably 50) count to enter as both BJ & CHC will have been up & running for over 10weeks, so I don't think that is unreasonable - but the play-offs is going to be another three weeks away & the final will follow the following week.

It frankly doesn't matter where CB ends up but it does matter that every member has the right to put their favourite song of the year at the top of his/her personal list without being jumped upon and accused of cheating. Some members of bj seem to think they are the arbiters of good taste and everyone who doesn't agree with them should be bullied into line.

Thanks for taking the time to explain it all :)

How do people voting who have registered with a different name on each forum get sorted, please?

ok, I see, thakns for explaining.

its only a game anyway, it was the jumping on for voting for your favourite record and the snide posts that followed that got up my nose.

What people forget is that many of us had been riding a roller coaster of emotions from the beginning of Popstars waiting for Darius's first single and it was a great one. Popstars aired in January 2001. 18 months later the radio first played Colourblind.

No wonder it meant so much to us and we all put it at the top of our personal Top Twenty of 2002's hits.

yes, it is the song we waited so long to hear, after wondering where Darius had disappeared to after PI. I still recall the feeling of seeing the video for the every first time on the music channels, andthe tuning into the online radio waiting for its first play, not knowing quite what to expect!

The 2002 vote finished at midday. I suppose I'll have to start trying to remember what was out in 2003.

Christina's Beautiful. My mind's a blank. It's just as well there's a list.

I have posted The Results of the 2002 Record Of The Year in the Pop Forum.

I have also posted the 2003 Record Of The Year Competition - no Darius, but you will not be short of ex-TV Popcontestants to vote for (David Snedden, Sinead Quinn, Lemar, Will Young, Girls Aloud & Gareth Gates).
