Posted Tuesday at 13:052 days 27th July 2025It's still Loaded Honey at number one - but with album track Over, making a hat trick of new tracks in a row for one week only each - that has never happened before, though Pet Shop Boys and John Lennon managed it with multiple weeks on top of 3 consecutive tracks but the runs had old re-issues amongst them. That also gives a total of 4 chart-toppers including Jungle stuff, and is far and away the fastest hat-trick ever of any kind. Rob Thomas meanwhile gets his biggest hit since Bent gave Matchbox 20 a chart-topper almost 24 years ago. Hard To Be Happy speaks on behalf of the 2020's I'd say. Miley Cyrus album track Walk Of Fame leaps up to 5 for her second top 5 of the year as her sis Noah grabs another top 10 with I Saw The Mountains, though she's way behind Miley in total numbers of top 10's.Last week I saw tribute act Bye Bye Baby doing the best of The Four Seasons and Frankie Valli, and one advantage younger tribute acts have over veteran acts (those that are still touring at least) is enthusiasm for the material. I saw Frankie a decade ago and he was still great but it's hard to be energetic in your 70's - though Sparks were the other month! So, three classic Four Seasons tracks pop in, Rag Doll returns having already topped my chart as an oldie in the 2000's, and also the most effective tracks in a hat trick of Northern Soul dance classics - Beggin' has charted twice before so that's not back, but C'Mon Marianne and Dawn both debut 60 years or so late at 36 and 38, with Rag Doll at 7 while another song of the same name stays inside the 40.Connie Francis sadly passed away last week, so Pretty Little Baby returns at a new peak, she previously charted with Warm This Winter - yes the original of that Gabriella Cilmi Xmas classic. Black Sabbath's Paranoid is also back for a third run, 1970, 1980 (when it peaked in the top 10) and again now following Ozzy Osbourne's passing. Far and away the best record he was involved in for my money. Self Esteem was on Radio 2 t'other week, and Cheers To Me was sounding good, in at 82, behind a comeback old-skool-sounding Olly Murs track, Save Me, at 80, extending his run to 15 years. sombr has had a trio of decent big hits globally, but the first that takes my fancy pops in: 12 To 12 at 88. Madonna's Ray Of Light out-take is out for the first time, and Gone Gone Gone pops in at 89, with Kenny Thomas getting another 2020's track new at 90, assisted ably by Kim Wilde, who's been charting quite a few off her current album already, so why not add a Shout Out to both!1 3 1 7 OVER - Loaded Honey 5107502 2 1 7 TOKYO RAIN - Loaded Honey 5230003 18 3 3 HARD TO BE HAPPY - Rob Thomas 1144004 1 1 11 DON’T SPEAK - Loaded Honey 6389005 38 5 2 WALK OF FAME - Miley Cyrus featuring Brittany Howard 772006 8 6 9 ZOMBIE LADY - Damiano David featuring Dove Cameron 2099007 NEW 7 1 RAG DOLL - The Four Seasons 500008 5 5 10 GLAD - Saint Etienne 3331009 6 1 11 RUN WITH U - Mamagama 88000010 13 10 11 I SAW THE MOUNTAINS - Noah Cyrus 20415011 11 1 20 SUNSET BLVD - Selena Gomez & Benny Blanco 119990012 4 4 10 BALENCIAGA COVERED EYES - Agnes 39830013 7 7 7 WOULDN’T IT BE NICE - The Beach Boys 21595014 10 1 7 GOD ONLY KNOWS - The Beach Boys 81600015 12 7 16 FEEL IT - d4vd 43835016 17 16 6 ROCK THAT BODY - The Black Eyed Peas 9280017 9 9 7 DAYDREAMING - Elliot James Reay 22510018 21 18 7 RUNAWAY TRAIN - Sam Feldt featuring RuthAnne 11775019 33 19 3 BROKEN GAME - Finn Forster 5170020 26 20 7 MANCHILD - Sabrina Carpenter 9110021 16 16 7 CALIFORNIA GIRLS - The Beach Boys 13615022 14 2 15 MYSTICAL MAGICAL - Benson Boone 71300023 15 2 11 BROKENHEARTED - Gabry Ponte & Train 86600024 25 2 17 END OF THE WORLD - Miley Cyrus 67470025 28 25 9 LET’S RIDE AWAY - Avicii featuring Elle King 11425026 37 26 2 JUPITER - almost monday featuring Jordana 3580027 34 27 6 GOLD - Myles Smith 7680028 19 19 10 LOVER - Richard Ashcroft featuring Joan Armatrading 14795029 23 1 18 SHINE - Mondo Cozmo 115155030 30 5 7 GOOD VIBRATIONS - The Beach Boys 19700031 63 31 5 LET IT BE FOR LOVE - Armin van Buuren featuring JAI RYU 4060032 41 32 11 SPORTS CAR - Tate McRae 10105033 27 12 11 VOYAGE - Zoe Me 24135034 52 34 3 NO TIME TO TALK - The Jonas Brothers 3590035 31 3 18 RAGDOLL - The Lottery Winners featuring Chad Kroeger 45820036 NEW 36 1 DAWN (GO AWAY) - The Four Seasons 1740037 81 37 2 FIVE MORE SECONDS - Seafret featuring KT Tunstall 2110038 NEW 38 1 C’MON MARIANNE - The Four Seasons 1720039 80 39 2 POISON VINE - Cast featuring P.P.
