john v's week late 17th Aug 2025 chart - Still Miley versus Loaded Honey on top

It's two weeks on top for Miley Cyrus and Brittany Howard as sombr and Finn Forster both grab a first top 10 slot with the exciting 12 To 12, and the emotive Broken Game. The Jonas Brothers take their remake of Stayin' Alive into the top 20 as I spent last evening watching Bee Gees tribute act You Win Again get the audience moving (and it wasn't a young crowd!) to all the Saturday Night Fever era tracks of the Gibbs wonderfully long and varied career.

Highest new entry goes to a Kasabian remix of G.O.A.T. at 47 - I see old fans moaning online about the new stuff not being as good as the old stuff. They're wrong. And that makes 21 years of charting including 2024's chart-topper and their best record to date in Coming Back To Me Good. Sigrid's been absent from my charts for 3 years but now extends her run to 7 years with the rather good Fort Knox at 65. Damiano David is on his 5th charting track off his latest album, Funny Little Fears, as The First Time drops by at 69, as Girls Aloud get a second archive track onto the charts for a 20th anniversary album, the good Singapore - the last song naming Singapore to chart was 1978's Manhattan Transfer's cover of the vintage On A Little Street In Singapore.

The Hives are back, and it's been a jaw-dropping wait of 21 years to get a 4th charting single, extending their chart run to 23 years, and this one is as lively as the early hits, new at 76, with a debut for Charlotte OC at 80 with the good Romeo, and Cliff Richard & The Shadows at long last getting childhood obsession fave Summer Holiday into my charts. The record and the film would have easily been a long-running number one if I'd been charting in 1963! Every kid dreamed of driving around the world living in a double-decker bus. Some actually did it! Needless to say that is the longest wait of 62 years for a fave track to debut in my charts. It's in thanks to new action movie Nobody 2, who also plug Jo Jo Gunne's Run Run Run a few weeks after I said it needed to be in a film to bring it back to notice. It's as if cult film-makers read my mind, it really is!

I'm glad Manchild isn't falling foul yet and descending gracefully. It's doing the same on my own chart though I still do adore it.

Oooh, good to see shook still climbing but it has reached it's peak for me.

That's more like it for the subway. It's one of Chappells very best imo.

I'm hoping Cascada can follow in Chappells footsteps here tbh.

Hi John. Hope all is good with you and that you enjoyed Gran Canaria and Tenerife. I, myself, am about to go on a little break to somewhere equally exotic....err Cambridgeshire.
