Pavi/Vülker weren't the only hosts that disappeared while hosting, the short lived Brechtoria (Bradders) did the same also leaving their contest in limbo for several days before he resurfaced and sent the votes over to someone else to finish hosting the contest. I still see him lurking on the site now but he's only posted 3 times since that ill fated hosting attempt.

Omg Blush lol, I think the band was TP4Y or something and it did get rescinded I remember like maybe 4 or 5 of us myself included hyped it up and you weren’t supposed to reveal your entry but at the time people were doing basically “national finals” and it was an open secret basically what people entered anyway so we all felt it was unfair and it did get overturned.

One I remember as well is like 8 people including me trying to enter Water Under The Rocks by Faye so it got vetoed and never ended up getting sent afaik, I think similar happened with Billie - Give Me The Knife

Yeah I think prior to 'Blush-gate' people would PM each other potentials but after that it had to be more transparent and public, with a national final instead

I remember being on holiday and having to catch up on both that and 'Polite Message', where the Lounge was temporarily locked down by Rooney - 2016 was wild

I remember refreshing for that confirmations thread like crazy, and still managing to be 4th person or something. Since then I took a vow of pop hoe celibacy and never indulged in such a sin.

Wild that I was one of the 8 to confirm Water Against The Rocks and one of the 5/6 to confirm Fleeting, 13 years later.

I’ve been with my boyfriend over four years and while he’s well aware of Buzzjack, I will protect him from knowing I play a game as a pretend country for as long as is physically possible.

The idea of MY MUM knowing is another level 😭😭

The row that finally triggered the veto framework if I remember rightly was actually my entry. I entered Tone Damli - Smash and that triggered another unholy wave of arguments and it was the straw that broke the camels back because the mod team collectively decided we’d had enough of having to have the same fight every month and the aforementioned veto free contest was what we did to give us a minute to create the first framework.

Also BJSC took a break in the 20‘s and had like a 3-4 month pause. The current calendar owes its tempo to this pause

However everyone thought it was gonna be the final BJSC ever and so there was some weird shit sent to BJSC28. Also famous for the first foreign language winner (Rd’Á national hero Molly Sandén)

I sent Värsta Schlagern, which was wonderful novelty but not the kind of thing I tend to send at all. As I really thought it was the final contest!

The following month we had the great anonymous contest, BJUSC (u for unknown) to finally rid the contest of its friendly bias - and most of the same countries did well lol. It pretty much killed the contest’s discussion too so didn’t last long. As you can see by BJSC being 10 times more active with discussion and predictions than the other anonymous contests on the site.

My partner knows all about it and I occasionally play the entries in the flat to ‘gauge opinion’ without saying what it is.

Although her taste and what does well in BJSC tends to be polar opposite (Korku aside).

Kind of hard to hide it when Tom Kay introduced us so she knew the connection between us.
