It's 3 weeks on top for Harry Styles, his longest-running chart-topper with the top end of the chart remaining static, but there's big movers lower down and loads of new entries. Robin Svchulz adds to his top 10's with Embers and Ellie Goulding gets a second top 10 of 2026 courtesy of Ilennium, rocketing up 64 spots to 10. The highest new entry at 11 is from the late Neil Sedaka who passed away suddenly at 86 this week - he was posting on Twitter only a day or two before sounding enthused with some music stuff. I saw Neil in concert twice, his voice never aged, and he still holds the record for the oldest chronological record to top my charts - in 1972 his 1959 Oh! Carol was a UK hit again and topped my charts, the only track pre-dating the 60's to do that.

In 1974, Neil wrote a song for John Lennon who was struggling to get a Green card to stay in the USA, The Immigrant, which flopped in the UK but gave him renewed 70's success along with Laughter In The Rain. I'd suggest both songs remain relevant in 2026, and return to my charts 51 years and 52 years on, respectibely at 11 and 37. Neil topped my chart in 1975 via Captain & Tenille's cover of Love Will Keep us Together, so his version debuts at 82, just behind his Elton John collab Bad Blood, another big USA hit that flopped in 1975 in the UK but charted for me. Finally two of his greatest 60's hits enter lower down, Oh! Carol returning after a gap of 54 years, and Breaking Up Is Hard To Do debuting in its original version, the song having topped my chart in 1972 too, for The Partridge Family, and Neil's slow ballad version in 1976.

The highest new track sees Kiesza and Bob Sinclar return after lengthy absences since their 2000's/2010's debuts, a great dance cover of Nu Shuz 1986 smash I Can't Wait, while Winona Oak replaces herself in my chart with lovely new ballad Stay The Night at 58. One place lower Avalan Rokston follow-up their top 10 (here) with a good soundalike, Vertigo, still in a The Weeknd vibe, while Jessie Ware has a fab grat track leap-frogging her actual single, Ride borrowing heavily on The Good, The Bad & The Ugly movie theme, and needing a proper single release, it's great.

almost monday and Alex Warren keep their runs of hits going with good new ones out, Luke Combs adds to the increasing numbers of Country stars charting for me, Sleepless In A Hotel Room is pretty decent new at 76, while higher up David Guetta as usual pumps out the hits at a massive rate, two this week, newie Prayer sounding very Enigma, and Holly Humberstone is working towards a handful of chart entries to date with To Love Somebody - not the Bee Gees song higher up for Al Green.

While in small town New Zealand, a pleasant pub lunch heard a song new to me pop onto the background music, so I googled it and the late 2010's Pacific Islander Fia drops in with a very summery song Love Me, tuneful reggae that might have been called Lover's Rock once upon a time, Rick Astley has nice lush ballad, sounding not unlike Tony Christie a bit - him who had that massive selling cover of Neil Sedaka's Amarillo - on Waiting On You, while fellow 80's veterans Def Leppard and U2 return with interesting tracks Rejoice sounding like vintage Lep over 40 years on, and U2 unlike vintage U2 45 years on nearly.

Cannons grab a second charting track, Sam Fender & Olivia Dean debut 6 months late with Rein Me In - it might be the UK number one, and I've always quite liked it, but never got round to buying it. Till now. That leaves a recording return from Labi Siffre on the very personal Far Away (he lost his partner some years back), his best song in decades probably, though Labi has been working his back catalogue very well of late. He first charted for me in 1971 with It Must Be Love, still his finest moment for me, though he has had quite a few of those over the years, but not since 1988, a chart gap longer than most careers, and chart span of 55 years with new material. There aren't many that can compete with that! Cher, The Stones, spring to mind.

Fantastic chart as always ❤️

Hi AH! 🙂

Thanks for the chartpicks and wishes! Walking into walls or falling seems to go with getting older sadly 😄I've done more damage to my body in the last 5 years than the previous 50 😮Still, damaging my nose really didn't make difference to the overall look, people often assumed I'd broken it in the past (I hadn't) 😄

I can see overdosing on Bruno's would whittle away at its retro charms, and yes it's very 70's disco - I'd suggest Leo's track is better then Bruno's, but even that got annoying after overplay. The NU Shuz original of I Can't Wait is fab, Bob seems to have kept the charm of the original but pumped up the beats and drama without annoying me, so well done him!

Berghain I've tried on many people, and nobody yet has liked it, of any age - I think it's too off-the-wall for most musical tastes, especially the ending and Bjork, but my Spanish friend in Taragona went mad on it same time I did, so we aren't alone 😄The album charted though, so that's good, must have picked up some new fans.

Rein Me In, it's inevitable they overdo it 😆I'm lucky in that it took ages to grow enough on me to buy it and so I've not heard it that much, just clips on chart rundowns, but there isnt a record in existence that wouldnt get on my nerves if I heard it every day for months or years on end. That said, some get a second wind after a short break from them, like your fave Die With A Smile! 😆

cheers! 😎
