Take That comeback hits 1m in Europe

Source: Music Week

Take That’s remarkable comeback has been officially recognised by the IFPI with an award for 1m sales across Europe.

The band’s Universal-issued album Beautiful World, which was the UK’s top-selling album over Christmas, is one of 12 albums awarded IFPI Platinum Europe Awards for sales benchmarks reached last December.

Four other UK-signed acts are on the list, led by The Beatles’ EMI release Love, which reached 2m pan-European sales. Other UK albums being honoured were Sony BMG’s George Michael best of Twenty Five, which was recognised for 1m sales across Europe, the same total reached by Universal act Razorlight’s self-titled second album and the same major’s James Morrison debut release Undiscovered.

Other albums awarded were Warner Music act Red Hot Chili Peppers’ double set Stadium Arcadium and the Universal-issued PCD by The Pussycat Dolls, which have both now sold more than 2m units in Europe. The list is completed by 1m awards for Sony BMG acts Christina Aguilera and Evanescence for their respective current albums Back To Basics and The Open Door, the same tally reached by Universal releases Sam’s Town by The Killers and Loose by Nelly Furtado, and the EMI-handled Genius Loves Company by Ray Charles.

No, a million in Europe, inlcuding the UK. The IFPI go by platinum (a million) and this article is from December I think. They tend to take a while to update their site. ^_^

Well done to them! What countries does this include.....does anyone know where they had their main biggest sales for beautiful world in europe?

Not sure, but it is most countries in Europe I think. They go by shipments as oppose to actual over the counter sales. :)

Germany would be their main market outside the UK easily. Not sure sales figures for Germany but according to mediatraffic (who go by sales eastimates worldwide) the album has sold over 300,000 outside the Uk thus far. :)

well i dont think ireland will be one of them :( made top 5 here number 5 for 1 week

Irish sales are so low anyway so it won't really matter. :P

Irish sales in general are so impossible to find

by now they obvisouly have sold more (1.5m at least).. beside france they are selling quite good so far outside the UK.

In Canada the album will be released febuary 6, not sure about North America.

Why do u think they are going to flop in the US? James Blunt's doing just fine there with the album full of boring ballads !

but James You're Beatiful was #1 hit over there...I dont see Patience hiting #1 over there...and did TT were famous in 90's to US
