Assuming today’s chart goes as the midweeks indicated, Rein Me In looks set yet again to be back at 0 weeks of streaming decline, whilst scoring its 20th non-consecutive week at the top of the charts

There have been several singles over the past few weeks that I had considered could potentially overtake Sam Fender to be the next new number one (Dai Dai, Wonderwall, Stupid Song). I also thought a new track from Ariana’s album might do it. But with all of these so far falling short, I’m curious what will be next

There’s nothing obvious on the release schedule and nothing that seems to be an obvious contender on the charts currently

    Ella seems to have already carved herself out a superstar status. The one song is record-breaking in the US, but other than that she has already had multiple minor hits in the UK. I make it 6 UK hits

    As much as I would love it to be 'Loser', 'Ain't In LA', 'Great Expectation' or anything else that might rapidly ascend the charts in the coming weeks, the most likely currently known option is 'Choosin' Texas' taking over by default when 'Rein Me In' finally goes to ACR.

    I honestly can’t see it being anything other than a new release tbh. I’ve been seeing the rumors all over TikTok about Sam potentially doing a load of stadium concert tours in summer 2027, what’s the chances he announces this when he’s on DCL-2 with new music announcement to avoid ACR yet again 😂

    I’m leaning towards a new release too but unsure of who and what.

    There is nothing on the release schedule that seems to shout number 1 contender, and I’m not sure what we are still expecting this year.

    I presume Taylor Swift will have an anniversary edition of her debut album out before the end of the year which could throw up something, but other than that I’m curious who else is likely to release that could garner enough streams to break this Olivia Dean domination at the top of the Spotify charts.

    Ok so it looks like next week will finally be the week!

    A few other contenders to throw in that weren’t originally included in the shape of Stella Lefty and Dolly Parton.

    Who are we thinking now? Personally I think

    Jolene might just hold up well enough

    keep an eye on that HUGEL track, i doubt Dolly’s gonna hold up and it keeps climbing.
