It's a post-holiday-in-Catalonia chart, with some comebacks and climbs from tracks I heard out and about, and a new chart-topper from Miley Cyrus grabs a 7th number one with the fab Redlights. Miley is now clear of Coldplay in the battle for Most Number Ones by acts debuting in the 21st Century, and her great album tracks/future singles continue to under-perform since the one-off that was Flowers. Redlights needs to be a proper single. Madonna gets a 3rd top 10 of the year as the sad Fragile climbs to 8, a touching tribute to her late brother, which makes it Madonna's best year for top 10's since 2015 when she got 5 of 'em.

Rosalind Ashford-Holmes sadly passed away last week, one of Martha & The Vandellas during their heyday, so in tribute the 2 greatest Motown tracks by the band that have never charted for me before both debut - Heatwave at 14, one of the great dance tracks of the decade, still exciting and one I discovered during the Mod-revival era in the late 70's and 80's, and Jimmy Mack at 38 which I managed to miss charting twice despite liking it and knowing it in the 60's. Great song. Love them both.

Among the tracks I heard in El Piano video bar in Sitges were 2 biggies I under-rated earlier in the year, Bruno's I Just Might and Ella Langley's Be Her so they bounce back, while giving boosts to Carly Rae Jepsen's Dancefloor and Miley Cyrus' Bass Persuades. Dolly Parton's 9 To 5 also got a play and the ladies in the bar all got excited to jump up and sing along, so it gets a first comeback chart appearace since 1981 for the late great Dolly, and increases chart tracks here to 6. Simple Minds sneak in with new track Beginner Boys at 100, meanwhile, and extend their chart run to 44 years.
