January 30, 200718 yr Learn all the lyrics :P download some remixes, cos there are some for 'This Charming Man' 'Please Please Please...' then download all Live versions, sure you'll be fine :) I know all the lyrics already :) Yeah, I have to star downloading different versions of the songs, but it's not the same...
January 30, 200718 yr I've heard a couple of covers: Belle & Sebastian, Muse, Deftones and killers and Reel big Fish (i think both of them songs of morrissey) I want to download the Peel's Sessions, tomorow maybe. Have you heard them?
January 30, 200718 yr Author Heard of but never heard them. There's some packs you can download from unknown bands doing covers on moz-solo
January 31, 200718 yr Wonderful Woman is one of the best Smiths songs... and Jeanne's lovely, too... Work is a four letter word is slightly dodgy, though. The best thing to do now you have everything is check out Morrissey's influences.... New York Dolls, Sparks (both are FABULOUS - Sparks especially).... read his literary heroes, especially Oscar Wilde... much of his wit and wisdom is derived straight from Wilde's work. I never tire of listening to The Smiths, almost 25 years on.... timeless classics almost each and every one.
January 31, 200718 yr I've never listen to neigher of those two but I don't think I would like new york dolls, though I know morrissey is a really, really fan. I've listen to, and i like, the kinks and the beatles which all music considers to have been bands that influenced the smiths. I've read couple of things from Oscar Wilde and I did like it.
January 31, 200718 yr The Beatles influenced The Smiths?? Nahhh.... no way on earth. The only 60s band that truly inspired The Smiths were the Rolling Stones.... Morrissey HATED THe Beatles... and has said so. Sparks are superb - many of their clever witty lyrics were an inspiration for The Smiths lyrics... their early albums are definitely worth a listen. And, there's one New York Dolls single you really should hear - 'Personality Crisis' is magnificent.
January 31, 200718 yr Ok, I'll try to listen to that. In the mean while, I've downloaded the Peel Sessions (some of the songs sound like the records i'm not sure they are all correct) and two covers by Sandie Shaw: Hand in gloove and Jeane. The song jeane sounds that was recorded with morrissey doing back vocals. Edited January 31, 200718 yr by molho_suave
February 1, 200718 yr In the mean while, I've downloaded the Peel Sessions (some of the songs sound like the records i'm not sure they are all correct) Now I got it, the ones who "sound like the records" is because they went to hatful of hollow and louder than bombs, and I must have downloaded those versions, already produced. Now it makes sense. :)

The song jeane sounds that was recorded with morrissey doing back vocals. The Sandie Shaw singles were brilliant.... she appeared on Top of the Pops in 1984 with The Smiths singing Hand in Glove - her version was a top 30 hit, bigger than The Smiths' version. Both Jeane and Hand in Glove were recorded with The Smiths. Plus, there's her song about Morrissey 'Steven' from her fantastic album Hello Angel which includes the classic lines "You don't eat meat, but you eat your heart out, Steven". Other stuff you should check out are the many, many Smiths bootlegs and live performances. I have the very last Smiths concert on DVD, as well as numerous other shows from 83 onwards.... all are available online or from record fairs.

Thanks very much for all the information. :) One day i wanna be like you ^_^ I only listen to the smiths 2 years ago (which is normal since i was borned in 1987 and i'm from Portugal) so there is a lot of things i don´t know. :) I'm trying to listen to the bootleg from the smiths live performance that they used in Rank, i think it's called the "bad boy from a good family". It would be a good starting point.
February 1, 200718 yr ahh...Portugal - you lucky thing...I love Portugal... my boyf is from Cascais... such a beautiful place, as is Sintra and Estoril... Lisbon, too. Record fairs... check your local press for them - where dealers from all over sell 2nd hand music and merchandise... original and bootleg. They have about 2 or 3 a year in Cardiff and they're always packed with Moz and Smiths goodies.
February 1, 200718 yr I've seen some 2nd hand singles in vinyl in a record shop that i wanted to buy but i don't have enough money (they cost between 15 and 25 euros), i only buy that stuff once in a while.
February 1, 200718 yr Author I've been looking at vinyls lately. I might start collecting stuff like this. Russt, think they'll sell Smiths and Moz stuff on normal carboots and stuff?
February 4, 200718 yr There Is A Light That Never Goes Out Bigmouth Strikes Again How Soon Is Now Hand in Glove (which is quoted in my favourite book ^_^)
