Kylie's three-timing boyfriend

29.01.07

Thisislondon.co.uk

Kylie Minogue's three-year relationship with Olivier Martinez is on the rocks after he dated two women in Los Angeles while she was in Britain.

Friends of the singer have told the Mail that Martinez has been deliberately trying to force Miss Minogue into finishing with him by behaving in an "increasingly challenging way".

"Olivier finds Kylie too controlling and neurotic," said one. "But he feels he cannot dump her so soon after her recovery from breast cancer.

"Though the situation has become totally unworkable, he is concerned what the fallout might be with her still so weak. He feels too guilty to finish the relationship himself."

This behaviour manifested itself last week with the French actor enjoying dates with two different women at his Hollywood hotel while 38-year-old Kylie was 5,000 miles away in the UK.

On both occasions, he chose the Chateau Marmont, a hotel frequently staked out by photographers, as his rendezvous.

First he met up with model Sarai Givati, the girl he promised Miss Minogue he was not having a fling with after spending a three day break with her in Paris six weeks ago. On Thursday Israeli Miss Givati, 24, stayed in Martinez's suite for 90 minutes.

The next evening he dined at the hotel with 28-year-old actress Michelle Rodriguez, a woman he was spotted kissing in the street two years ago. Miss Rodriguez, who stars in the television series Lost, stayed overnight.

The meetings took place last week as Miss Minogue was completing her Homecoming world tour in Manchester.

However, it seems the singer just does not want to let him go. "She can't bear the thought of breaking up with Ollie," said another friend.

"She has been as unswerving and driven about their relationship as she has about her career – failure is not an option. She was planning the wedding dress before he even proposed.

"She wants the family, but the clock is ticking. She cannot cope with the idea of starting all over again."

Oh dear. Any Comments?

KYLIE HEARTBREAK: WHAT A PHONEY

Sunday Mirror.co.uk

By Louise Ford and Sandra White

LOVE rat Olivier Martinez dumped Kylie Minogue by phone, told his family he was distraught about it… and then spent the night with a mystery brunette.

The girl is the THIRD woman been flaunted by the heartless Frenchman in as many days.

Friends say Kylie is “utterly devastated†at being jilted by womanising Martinez, with whom she had dreamed of spending the rest of her life and starting a family.

At midnight on Friday, his aides announced the split, claiming it was mutual and said the pair would remain good friends.

They said in a statement: “Olivier Martinez and Kylie Minogue have officially confirmed that they are no longer a couple.

“They have made it clear that the decision to go their separate ways was mutual and amicable. The two remain very close friends.â€

But in fact, it was Martinez – supposedly Kylie’s “rock†throughout her breast cancer ordeal – who called time on their relationship in an angstridden phone call at around 11am Los Angeles time (7pm here).

And while Kylie, 38, spent Friday in a hotel in Mexico being comforted on the phone by friends and family, grinning Martinez was out in Los Angeles with another woman.

After dumping Kylie he wept to his parents Rosemarie and Robert in France about his sadness and claimed he was “dreadfully upset†to part with her after four years together. “I still feel for her but I’m no longer in love with her,†he told them. “We have been having a lot of rows. We have outgrown each other.â€

Yet by 7pm on Friday it was a beaming Martinez who emerged in Los Angeles with the mystery woman.

The night before he had enjoyed dinner with Sarai Givati, an Israel model with whom the Sunday Mirror revealed he spent three days and nights in Paris in November.

And on Wednesday he met up with Lost TV star Michelle Rodriguez, who spent the night at his hotel 10 days ago.

Our exclusive pictures show Martinez, 41, in Los Angeles with the mystery girl. The couple left his hotel then jumped into his vintage Aston Martin and headed for actress Salma Hayek’s hillside mansion – where they stayed for three hours. There they were joined by three pals, including film director Ridley Scott.

An onlooker said: “You wouldn’t have thought he’d just split with the love of his life. This beautiful woman jumped into his car and they sped off. He looked very comfortable and happy – not remotely upset.â€

Martinez emerged from the house alone at 10.30pm. He drove back towards the exclusive Hollywood Chateau Marmont hotel, where he has been staying for the past two weeks while Kylie has been on business in Mexico.

Fifteen minutes later the woman, who is in her 20s, emerged from the house with two male friends and sped off in a jeep.

They dropped her outside Martinez’s hotel and she ran in to join him. By 10am yesterday, she still hadn’t emerged.

His ungallant behaviour goes to the core of the concerns felt about Martinez by Kylie’s family. A well-placed source said:

“Poor Kylie was smitten with Martinez from the moment she first met him and never wanted to let him go. The worse his behaviour got, the more she seemed desperate to make it work. She wanted marriage, children.

“It’s almost as though he has tried to provoke her into dumping him to avoid being labelled ‘the cad who dumped Kylie after her cancer struggle’.

“Now he has dumped her – down a telephone line. He couldn’t even do it face-to-face. That just sums him up. At the height of her illness she went to Paris to be treated because he didn’t want to go to Australia.

“But who was it who went with Kylie to her radiotherapy most of the time? Her mum. Before he met Kylie, he just wasn’t a household name. Now, of course, he is.â€

Our source continued: “Every time Kylie confronted Olivier about his other women, he would shrug it off and say, ‘How dare you even ask me about it’. That’s the way he is – arrogant and aloof.â€

Yet earlier on Friday, he wept to his mum and dad at their home in Paris. He told them he’d ended the relationship after a series of rows.

Rosemarie said yesterday: “We are devastated about this news. It is terrible, and we hoped they had a future together. Olivier was dreadfully upset.â€

Kylie, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2005, once described him as the love of her life. She said he was “the most honourable man I’ve ever metâ€.

But a source close to Kylie’s family said: “Her parents Ron and Carol felt Olivier had too strong a hold over Kylie and questioned his commitment.

“They are sad that Kylie has now got to deal with a broken heart on top of everything else.

“They just want Kylie home now for some TLC. They want to see her happy and contented.â€

Two weeks ago the Sunday Mirror revealed how Kylie had defied advice from medics to rest, not go back on tour and give herself time to recuperate.

The source said: “The sincere hope of everyone around Kylie is that she can pick herself up and meet a man who deserves her.â€

Kylie previously had her heart broken by INXS star Michael Hutchence, who dumped her, and actor James Gooding who sold a tawdry kiss-and-tell on her.

The source said: “She has had such terrible luck with men. Surely there is a Mr Right for her.â€

Ex-Neighbours star Kylie is due to fly to Britain tonight for the launch on Tuesday of an exhibition charting her career at London’s V&A Museum.
