I used to be a member on those sites too. I'm not the sort of person who gets twitchy at someone disliking something that Will does (I guess it's not a crime!) but I, too, couldn't understand the vitriol and personal abuse that was levelled at Will.

Some people seemed to take it as a personal affront that Will had dared to sing in a different style, or move in a direction, that was different than their expectations. He was, indeed, treated as if he had personally let them down, and the full force of their wrath was directed at him as a consequence.

I can live with the occasional single, or some album tracks, that I'm not so keen on. For me, it's that voice ..... it can send shivers down my spine, and even when I don't like the song, the voice itself always captivates me. Plus the fact that Will is so damn gorgeous to look at. And clever. And funny. And quirky. And principled. And courageous. Stop me, or I'll go on all day ........

He may not be perfect. He's done things, sometimes, that I think were a little iffy (I'm not just talking music) but it's like having a best friend, isn't it? You don't cr@p all over them just because they do a couple of things that you don't agree with.

I'm with Tillywhim on the 'oath' thingy. If I ever lose my Will love, I'm not going to carry on visiting Will forums just to bang on about how much I've gone off him, and that everyone else must be deluded for still liking him. But it's never going to happen anyway - I'll be a fan for as long as he's in the music business, and beyond

Peachy cheeks you have put into words exactly how I feel :D

Especially the last bit....he's got me for ever

Great posts, I've not liked everything Will's said and done either, but seeing as he's only done three albums so far, he's still learning and improving all the time. I love how he's not afraid to take risks and to experiment and mix it with other artists, he's not churning out the easy options. I'm really looking forward to his next album and I think it's going to be the best yet.

At least we know we'll get something different - unlike the fans of one group I've just read about. ;)

Can't imagine what it must be like to be the fan of such boring predictable artists but then I always say fans get the artist they deserve. ;)

Oh yes - that's just how I feel. As I said in a recent post - sorry can't remember if it was here or over the road - he's really spoiled me for other singers. I buy into other artists but no-one touches me in the same way. He pushes all my buttons.

Even my husband and sons have said how much enjoy listening to his voice. They don't always like some of his upper register falsetto but do still like his 'sound' especially when he collaborates with people like Nitin and Morcheeba and Groove Armada.

The strangest thing about one of those site owners in particular was, I believe she knew a couple of members of Will's family through her visits to the pub. I have wondered since if there was more to it than just a dislike of a song, her reaction and those of some of her friends on that site was totally OTT given that they still had the rest of the album to hear.

Now.... I recall that and I found that really unsettling. Why would anyone want to encroach on the private life of their idol and his/her family in that way. :(

I read about Westlife over the road. Talk about ripping off the fans - how many cover albums is that now

You are right there Marguerite, she did go to the pub and said things on her site which I really thought were a bit off. Most peculiar.

I like most of Will's stuff I must confess. I too wasn't keen on LIAMOD and I also didn't really like What's In Goodbye, despite it being written by Burt Bacharach. DLMD wasn't a favourite either. But most others I love. I can listen all the way through KO without skipping a track.

Fans visiting the pub just because it has connections with Will I have always found very disturbing. In my book it's tantamount to stalking.

Like you Dot I'm not keen on LIAMOD or WIG & I could add Save Yourself to that list but I love most of his other stuff & no one has a voice quite like Will.

I think it goes on all the time but we don't get to hear about it these days.

Save Yourself at the summer concerts was great. I was quite close to him at Reigate!

I was at the front at Warwick :yahoo:

Oh I have to agree it was wonderful at those outdoor gigs. I was right next to the podium at Tatton Park.

I've been in that pub - but I'm not a stalker. :w00t: It was the first Weekender at Reading, and the group I was with had lunch there, as did most of the other Will fans from what I can remember.

Didn't like SY at all when I first heard it, but now I rather like it for it's simplicity and message.

When it was announced that BB was writing a track for Will's debut album I was :cheer: but was very disappointed when I finally heard it. The only track I sometimes skip on KO is SY...love all the other tracks though :D

So you was the one that was soaking everyone with your drool http://bestsmileys.com/signs12/1.gif

I was standing in front of the mike stand ...loved that concert

Sorry didn't mean to offend chrysalis  . I meant those who go back repeatedly.

I was on the front row too  :yahoo:

I must be a stalker then, 'cos I've been to the pub in question :D It was a meet up with other Will-fans, a lovely atmosphere (those were the days! ) and if I'd thought for a second that Will would be anywhere near, I wouldn't have gone within a mile of the place!

It IS a public house btw, meaning it's business is to sell food & drink to the public. It's not quite the same as hanging around outside someone's private residence. And the owners used to trade on Will's PI success to draw in business back in those days - so fair game IMO.

I think I know the person that some peeps are talking about, but I don't want to get into any personal discussions about individuals. It was one of the reasons I stopped wanting to visit those sites. There was too much petty playground bitching about about what X or Y had said or done, and I really didn't want to be a part of it. I just realised that I'd grown apart from the other members, and it was time to move on.

I have plenty of friends who don't like Will, and aren't afraid to say so. I certainly wouldn't dismiss their friendship just because they didn't like Will. But if, however, they relished taking constant digs at him knowing that it would make me feel hurt, I think I would start to question whether they were real friends or not. B)

I was on the front row too  :yahoo:

I think Tatton Park and Warwick castle have to be my favorite outdoor concerts :yahoo:

7th row for Warwick :D
