I think these peeps are shooting themselves in the foot....I can't tell you just how many people I have had say to me of late, either by PM or face to face that they are very disillusioned with some of the posters on D continually taking the moral high ground, and consequently they rarely post anymore. Its true too, its so quiet nowdays. I know news is scarce but people always used to banter on there, But its getting less and less now. I used to post pretty much how I saw things but even I don't bother much now, not worth the hassle. Plus there are 'some' artists that you dare not criticise, the slightest remark & you get your legs slapped. My final rant, the ones who dish it out the most are the ones who most certainly can't 'take it' :huh: Sadly, its not like it used to be

 

I'm not part of any inner circle over there so don't really know about anything going on behind the scenes - but I must admit that there are times when I get annoyed with the attitude that one or two posters have that their opinions are the absolutely right ones, and that no way will they brook other's opinions. I always think half a dozen times before posting, and in consequence, apart from the fun threads, I rarely post, especially pics. It always sticks in my mind comments made about some pics being "intrusive into Will's private life". But as has been said if they're in the public domain then they're public no matter how they were obtained. I don't remember such high moral ground when the pic of D went around the internet. And as for having an opinion on other artists well.............

I remember the earlier days of devoted, when we'd be collectively listening in or watching some pop concert multi artist type event and everyone got a good slagging off for their singing, miming, and general awfulness. Until Will came on, then we all went ballistic about how wonderful he was, and so much better than all the others. I loved those threads - absolutely hilarious :D :yahoo: It was only a bit of fun really. I think we'd be shot down in flames these days for being negative about other artists now :(

 

It seems cool now to rave on and on about other artists in OM - which is fine - but I do think people who have a different opinion should be allowed to give it. When Will returns, I have no doubt there will be a huge diversity of opinions :o ;) :D

I have no problem with people liking other artists but I tend to try & stay clear of one or two of the threads that seem to have turned into mini fan sites which I tend to find rather OTT.

Oh yes - especially by one gent in particular. But of course he is entitled to his opinion :arrr: An opinion is fine but not when you feel there is brainwashing and undermining of peoples' own opinions going on. Thank god he seems to be keeping a low profile at the moment - probably until #4. :rolleyes:

 

I've never for one second believed our bloke to be a saint but we shouldn't have to defend him on his own dedicated fansite :(

Yes he has got it sussed :wub: some people pull him apart..they really do..it's like they relish doing it. i never understood it..he gives me so much..and always had..it's more than just his singng..it;s everything about him i enjoy..but if i didn't..if what he sung/said/did/ looked like/had his hair/wore or whatever didn't do it for me..i'd go without have the need to rip into him before i left. why do some hold on their death grip when he does nothing for them and hasn't since pop idol? :huh:

Most of the posters are wonderful and D is amazing most of the time but I must admit to being put off D with these attitudes....I was never a prolific poster anyway but as time goes on I post less and less..it used to be the first place i logged on to but not anymore :(

Me too. Devoted is an excellent site & the good times far outweigh the bad.

I love devoted too :D However, what does annoy me - my problem I know! - is people who come on Devoted, which is obviously for Will Young, and have avatars and banners with other artists in them! Sorry, just had to say that :blush:
