When I saved this forum to favourites I only saved the Will Young forum

Exactly what I did! I occasionally look elsewhere on BJ but first and foremost I want to be in here! :cheer:

Thank suggy as a mod I'm ashamed I didn't know that. I now only have 4 OF's

Tell me about it - I've seen it get downright vicious. But they do say the borderline between love and hate is very slim......perhaps that it.

However.....my oath

I Barbara do most solomly swear (has right hand on Heat magazine) that should my love for the gorgeous and talented Mr Will Young ever wither away and die......I herewith promise under no circumstances will I ever go to one of his fan sites to insult and wind up those who care for him. I promise I will quietly walk away causing no mischief or upset to those remaining...

But tough luck mateys - I ain't going nowhere yet :D

Everyone's ignored your oath - but it's great and maybe all Will fans should be made to sign it :D

I dunno, I suppose an artist who disappoints you, after you make such a huge emotional investment, is going to get some grief - and his remaining fans too. There was so often the suggestion that continuing fans had somehow lost all sense of judgement and were 'wrong' to still see Will as a hugely talented, beautiful voiced young man. The way I see it, a million can't all be wrong, and that's a million who include Nitin Sawhney, James Brown, Morcheeba, Judi Dench.................etc, etc.

Regarding the people who have gone off Will, I used to belong to a site (I was invited) which suddenly turned anti-Will. It was when SIO was released. I stopped going on it then and I think it has folded. Is this the one you meant?

It sounds like it - when SIO was released the owner said she would use it as a coaster, you were not 'allowed' to defend him.....them somehow made out you were deluded, and yet these very people had originally been some of the most obsessed fans. Was such a shame because she used to take beautiful photographs...although of course she never saw Will in 'that' way :naughty: She was also kind enough to make me a lot of compilation discs...as back then I couldn't do them myself. I didn't argue...I just left feeling a bit sad that they had turned on him like a pack of dogs....I don't understand why either. Perhaps they resent the time and enery spent on him. But it was their choice after all.

I don't know...it so odd...it IS like he had betrayed them somehow by daring to be something other than what they thought he would be..oh well..it's their loss completely.

as for me..i just wait and see what he brings me..i can't second guess him at all.  i mean..out of all the ideas we had for WAI no one deamed of blue peter..

If it's the site I think you mean, then I too was a member. Believe it or not but their vehemence frightened me, and in the end I just didn't go on the site.

Odd though - all invited and then driven away in a very short space of time really.

I can understand anyone who loses it....sometimes you do go off the boil and I can accept that....but to turn completely around to hating.....now thats weird I think

We're very quiet today aren't we? I've been having a wander around the net and it's pretty quiet everywhere

at the moment, May and June are such non-event months anyway music and news wise, roll on this Planet Earth thingy, at least he'll have to come out and show himself then.

I cant wait to see Will interacting with those gorillas :D

My two favorite subjects ..............Will and animals in one programme :yahoo:

It's not just weird Tillywhim - it's frightening. :(

It is indeed very weird and scary! :(

The sad thing is that I think Will expects it generally. I remember he said in the interview about people turning on Noel Coward, something like - it's as if a person can be so immensely popular that people have nowhere else to go but to hate the person - :( ( It confuses me as a generalisation though, because I know I wouldn't be like it.

I know the public can be fickle but it's not obsessive love then is it, it's something else. I think sometimes the public think famous people are their servants and should do exactly as they desire or else they can be highly critical or else it's just the old chestnut that it makes some people feel good about themselves if they can find something to knock in the successful. :(

But people who are intensely obsessed that turn must be unstable in the first place I think.

At least I suppose he's already got rid of those horrible people and continued to do well. :) It's very much in the past isn't it?

Back to moans - why do some fans turn so much against Will? :( , as if he's committed some heinous crime, not just released some songs they are not keen on! Never have got that? I just don't think he deserves such vitriole. He sort of gets treated like a cheating ex lover :o

I used to be a member on those sites too. I'm not the sort of person who gets twitchy at someone disliking something that Will does (I guess it's not a crime!) but I, too, couldn't understand the vitriol and personal abuse that was levelled at Will.

Some people seemed to take it as a personal affront that Will had dared to sing in a different style, or move in a direction, that was different than their expectations. He was, indeed, treated as if he had personally let them down, and the full force of their wrath was directed at him as a consequence.

I can live with the occasional single, or some album tracks, that I'm not so keen on. For me, it's that voice ..... it can send shivers down my spine, and even when I don't like the song, the voice itself always captivates me. Plus the fact that Will is so damn gorgeous to look at. And clever. And funny. And quirky. And principled. And courageous. Stop me, or I'll go on all day ........

He may not be perfect. He's done things, sometimes, that I think were a little iffy (I'm not just talking music) but it's like having a best friend, isn't it? You don't cr@p all over them just because they do a couple of things that you don't agree with.

I'm with Tillywhim on the 'oath' thingy. If I ever lose my Will love, I'm not going to carry on visiting Will forums just to bang on about how much I've gone off him, and that everyone else must be deluded for still liking him. But it's never going to happen anyway - I'll be a fan for as long as he's in the music business, and beyond

I agree - I've not liked everything Will's said, done or sung, but I accept that's part and parcel of being a fan. I was never very keen on VK and LIAMOD. That's my problem but I would never castigate him because of it. For me the positives have far outweighed any negatives I may feel - just as they do in friendships.

Great posts, I've not liked everything Will's said and done either, but seeing as he's only done three albums so far, he's still learning and improving all the time. I love how he's not afraid to take risks and to experiment and mix it with other artists, he's not churning out the easy options. I'm really looking forward to his next album and I think it's going to be the best yet.

I'm really looking forward to the next album too, I listened to FNO on Saturday for the first time in over a year and with a couple of exceptions really enjoyed most tracks on it.

Of all 3 albums Fridays Child is my favourite, I hope the new one is along similar lines to that.

It's understandable that people go off artists and to be honest regardless of what they say about Will it's how I feel about him that matters and I don't stop being friends with them because they don't like Will anymore, I think lifes too short for that. I dislike certain people in the music industry and I'm happy to say 'I hate' that song or I 'hate' them and people don't fall out with me for speaking my mind!
