He is lovely isn't he.

I don't like to sound greedy but I wonder if we might get a little video clips on his thoughts on the Vortex once the run is finished.

WILL UPDATE INTERVIEW

We managed to catch up with Will to get all the latest on life while he’s on stage in Manchester with The Vortex.

Will, how is the play going?

It's really fun: the play is just one of the best things I've ever done. It's been brilliant for so many different reasons. I get bored easily, so it's a new challenge and I think it's a really good thing to do, to push yourself.

Is it strange doing the same thing every night?

It's not that weird, it's actually quite comfortable. I relish the routine and it's so different every night. But I've never been in the same place for this long ever. The last time I had this kind of routine was in university really.

It's been nice to have a routine and every show is different and for me, because it's such a learning experience, I learn something every night. It's still fresh for me and maybe in 20 years' time and old it may not be that fun, but at the moment it's great.

How have the audiences been?

The audience changes every night and they are so key to the play: you manoeuvre quite a lot according to the reactions of the audience and sometimes my character can be very playful and sometimes I get quite dark but either way, the ending is fantastic.

Does the performance change every night?

The more comfortable I feel with the lines and the character and with everyone, you just kind of find yourself performing and not thinking about it which is very bizarre. In a way it's like singing you know, every night it's different.

Is it difficult to go through all the emotions every night?

Sometimes it's harder than others but generally the words tend to lead you to the emotions and that means you give a very honest performance.

You come out quite tired, people don't realise how tiring it is. It's like being on tour, you do need time to wind down after the show so I go to bed quite late and get up even later. I think I get up at about 12 and I've been doing a lot of Pilates.

What are you doing in Manchester when you’re not on stage?

We're having great fun. I love Manchester, the people are amazing and easy to get along with. There are great places to go out and the city has been exactly what I wanted it to be. People are just so friendly and Manchester is so much more manageable than London!

Come back next Monday for the next instalment in this exclusive interview with Will...

Looking forward to the next installment. :D :cheer:

Thanks TT, I've only just logged in so I'll read it now, I lovee him. :yahoo:
He sounds so happy doing the play and living in Manchester doesn't he? it's good to know how he tackles each performance as well, as for him doing a lot of Pilates, no wonder his peachy butt is so gorgeous. :yahoo:

Thanks for posting TT

It really is lovely to see him so happy and positive

Old at 50 - yes Will

He seems to be really getting into it now - this has been so good for him - even putting in his own little ad libs when something goes off-script.

Looks like you got your wish TT - not a video interview but his thoughts on the play. Thanks for bringing it over.

Yes. :D

Going to wish out loud again & hope we get to hear of what's next for Mr Young at the end of the play. :) Think he's well & truly got the acting bug at the minute.

I'll let him have a holiday first though before he embarks on his next aventure. As long as he doesn't keep us waiting too long. ;)

I very much doubt he'll hang around doing nothing TT:

And the more new things he tries the bigger his network which will lead to more diverse & interesting projects.

It's all good both for Will & us. :yahoo:

He certainly keeps us guessing.... from treading the boards in manchester to treking through the jungle in the Gabon:lol: :yahoo:

Lovely interview..he sounds so happy with is life at the moment...Manchester has been great for him. ..this play is going to open doors for him..you can just feel it can't you? :cheer:

i wonder what he'll have us doing next?

Note to Will...i don't want to be old when i reach 48 thanks..i'll leave it a while longer

He isn't saying that he'll be old in 20 years time, is he? I thought he was simply stating that the experience will be old, and no longer fresh and new for him! Therefore he wouldn't be so enthused by the whole thing

Just read this comment by Little Missy  Of course that's what he meant. I don't usually misread his comments but I did this time

So..... he's got a 20 year plan then

MORE FROM WILL

Check out the next instalment of our exclusive interview with Will while he’s on stage in Manchester with The Vortex.

Do you have any kind of rituals before you go on stage?

No, not really. You have to be there an hour in advance and if anything I just have this ritual of coming in and getting the make-up and hair done, always sitting listening to the play through the tanoy system...

Have there been any embarrassing moments?

I haven't had anything awful. Touch wood. I had a couple of times when I was so busy congratulating myself for what I thought was great in my performance and just lost track for a split second. It's not even a second and you just notice it but nobody else does. But there’s been nothing really bad. Quite a few people have been ill but we are back on track now.

How were the cast?

They've been brilliant, really supportive and they've really helped me a lot. If it wasn't for their help I wouldn't have got into the character and that's what you need when you are learning: people to guide you. And Diana in particular has been fantastic. It's been a real pleasure not difficulty at all and it's great to be in a group, you don't feel the pressure as they are behind you and you are behind them.

What happens after the theatre?

Despair, I imagine! I think I'm going to be travelling to America. I really need a holiday with some friends and then I'll be into the music again. I want to set something up so I can work at home which will take a while.

I want to take it quite easy because it's been such a hectic year: it would be nice to laze around a little bit but I'll probably get bored.

Has it made you hungry to do more stage work?

Yes, it has. When I finish it, I will really miss it. I will really miss the company around me and the interaction with the audience. I'd love to do another play and more acting but I have to wait and see what comes up.

Have you had a chance to do any songwriting?

I'm just about to start writing which will be good. First time for a while in months. Yes, it's good to go back into it. I've found a couple of people and I met someone else the other day to work with. I did a song in a club with some friends and met a pianist and he asked whether I'd like to come along? And I said yes. It's good to start getting back into it again.

Great to hear about the music - Not India then :P

Hope he does get more work from this .

Thanks for bringing it over munchkin
