DECKCHAIR DREAMS

Will has lent his support to the Deckchair Dreams campaign for London’s Royal Parks, joining the likes of Damien Hirst, Antony Worrall Thompson, Sam Taylor-Wood, Sir Peter Blake and Blek le Rat.

The campaign sees the parks’ green and white-striped deckchairs receiving 23 different makeovers from various artists and celebrities, with the theme being 'the trees of the Royal Parks and the wildlife they support.'

Will Young likes walking in Hyde Park and has previously confessed to hugging the trees. He says, 'I love London's parks. They are such relaxing places to be and I have always loved the deckchairs, especially in Hyde Park. I was delighted to be given the opportunity to design a deckchair, whilst helping to raise funds for such a worthy cause.'

Will's original signed chair is up for auction and if you would like to take part, please send an email stating the amount of your bid and your contact details to:

support@royalparksfoundation.org

This is the second year that the Royal Parks Foundation has initiated Deckchair Dreams to raise vital funds for London's treasured green spaces.

Sara Lom, Chief Executive of the Foundation explains: 'There are over 130,000 trees in the Royal Parks and it costs £300,000 a year to look after them. With hotter, drier summers and increasingly unpredictable winters, it is proving harder to establish young trees and to care for existing trees. It's important that we do so, because trees work hard to help clean up the city atmosphere, they provide homes for wildlife and just looking at them makes us all feel better! By buying a deckchair, you can help safeguard the trees' future for future generations to enjoy.'

The deckchairs will be available for hire in the Parks from mid June to late September. Limited edition deckchairs will be available to buy online from The Royal Parks Foundation for £83 + p&p at www.deckchairdreams.org

The collection will also be on display in Selfridges, Whole Foods Market in Kensington, at the PROUD gallery/nightclub in Camden, at Henley Festival, the Tour de France, Taste of London and Frieze Art Fair.

And finally, you can also join The Royal Parks Foundation Tree Circle for as little as £45 per year. Alternatively, you can dedicate your very own tree in a Royal Park with a single gift of £145 upwards. More details at www.royalparksfoundation.org

Thanks BYm+m's. Interesting - pity I no longer live in the SE, though if the deck-chair has his name on it, I wouldn't give much for its chance of not getting stolen.

I'm sure there'll be some kind person who'll do one, Suggy. We're lucky having peeps who can deal with the "intricacies of technology!!!! " - well they're intricate to this lesser mortal - I can't even transfer my computer music to my new Ipod - can't even understand the Quick Start instructionsl!! :w00t: Does anyone know?
