Sorry, folks. Had a house guest and on jury service this week and possibly into next

 

I wasn't called yesterday and decided to take a quick trip into Edinburgh - one problem - no Guys and Dolls!

 

I had realised there was no Monday performance the first week at Liverpool but I'd attributed that to the Queen's Birthday Holiday. It was only when the security guard at the Playhouse told me there was no show, I realised they needed the Monday to set up and rehearse in the new space.

 

I'm that desperate to see the show again and how Darius has developed in the role.

Aww BT thats a shame you went all that way.

Well at least I know I can get to the Playhouse dead on 7.30 if I get the 6.30 from Glasgow.

 

I won't of course cut it that fine the next time.

 

I got my ticket from the machine and didn't know how to operate it so got a cheap day return - the Edinburgh train was at the platform and then I couldn't get through the barrier. Apparently the cheap day return can't be used on that train. If I'd known that, I'd have bought another adult single and got the train but by the time I found a member of staff who explained that, the train had left.

 

I sort of knew deep down, when there was a massive hold up on the bus into the city that it wasn't my night.

When are you going?

I can't go tonight and I can't buy a ticket in advance anyway, because I don't know if I'll be on a jury and whether I'd get away on time if I was. If I am called tomorrow or later in the week, there's a possibility I could have to continue next week. I just have to play it by ear and have my bank card with me ready to make a dash to Edinburgh whenever I do get a chance.

I dont know if it is anyone from DM or here but someone from DS is going tonite to the playhouse so may be a report on there tomorrow. There is a thread on who is likely to take over from barrowman and Ball as a leading man and Darius gets a few mentions including the comment he wasnt half good from someone in that thread who saw him at liverpool empire.

Thanks DD!! I think that must be the one :D I think Darius is doing everything right by diversifying into MT and showing a different audience how talented he is!! He has definitely taken a few steps 'up the ladder' and it won't be long before he reaches the top!!! :dance:

Does the media have to put everyone into a narrow box though?

 

Some are already giving the impression that Darius has drawn a line under his music career and has switched permanently to just musical theatre.

 

I think we've just got to trust Darius to take the decisions about his next projects himself although I find that easier to say than do.

 

He has a very much more impressive skills base now. I'm hoping that above all, Darius is totally aware of our desire to see him back gigging very soon and hear him singing his own songs. I don't want to stymie his MT career but personally, the last thing I want is a producer offering him another unmissable role in the immediate future.

 

 

 

 

 

I have to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed his stint into musical theatre which I do think he fits in so well and his acting is great and I wouldnt be too sad if he did both acting, dancing, singing because to me nothing phases him.

3 months doing MT, TV or films, 6 months promotion of new songs and tour and 3 months off to write with the stipulation that he and Natasha also go out for fun only where the paps are lurking, so we get loads of pictures back- how about that?

to 14 in the week we've had more Darius than we've had for nearly a year.

 

We've had new pics, interviews in the press, reviews from the show and 3 new songs! Funnily enough the distraction which kept us away from here was

oh well, not bad still - and most are off enjoying the man himself or his new music
