I just want to hear Darius speak again. I hope all that time in LA hasn't wiped out his cultured West of Scotland accent.

 

Some fans said they could hear an Americanisation when they spoke to him at the stage door after his last run in Chicago. I didn't though. I think it has to be fairly pronounced before I can tell, but not nearly as much as Joss Stone at the Brits.

Why New York? I thought Sky Masterson was supposed to be a high roller from out of town? Shouldn't he speak with some other American accent ?

It may be better if D. did lose his Scottish accent if he wants to do more stage work.

Remember how much stick Sean Connery took for playing every part with

an underlying Scottish accent ?

Yes, but Sean Connery pretty much deserved the criticism in that respect. He didn't usually bother to put on an accent and whenever he did give ( The Untouchables!), his attempts were dire.

 

I don't think D's own accent would be any problem, because he seems quite an adept mimic and can adopt and sustain various accents. I definitely wouldn't want him to deliberately start speaking in RP English.
