Michael Eavis has confirmed that The Who will appear at this years Glastonbury Festival.

He confirmed that they were playing after Pete Townshend, revealed to Xfm that he and bandmate Roger Daltrey would be attending.

Artic Monkeys and Bjork have also been confirmed for the Glastonbury Festival lineup.

He denied again, the Glastonbury rumours that U2 would be playing. Other Glastonbury rumours, include Arcade Fire and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Michael suggested that ‘the biggest band in the world’ had contacted him about possibly performing and that they were ‘a modern band’.

There have been loads of rumours flying about that RHCP want to play Glasto, but they only got in touch with the organisers AFTER they had booked all the headliners and the organisers didn't want them playing other than being headliners, but maybe RHCP could be playing Glasto after all! ^_^

Hmm well the only thing that I would say was in the way of RHCP playing is the fact that they won't be headliners. Along with U2, RHCP are the biggest band in the world at the moment and I don't think it would seem right if they weren't headlining it. If they were gonna play Glasto though, I would put money on them headlining the Other Stage the night The Who play. :D ^_^

It would be utterly bizzare, for the Arctic Monekys to headline Glasto if U2 and the Chilli's play as well. I mean as you said, U2 are the worlds biggest band along with the Chili's so talking second place to the Arctic Moneky's does'nt seen very likely, especially with Bono's huge ego
U2 did say they would do Glasto this year, but then again Bono recently said they are talking the year off and recording their album in the summmer so who knows.

I thought they might be as well, but well I can't imagine them playing as anything but headliners, it would just seem wrong.

I dunno when they'll announce the FULL list, but over the coming months they'll be announcing more and more acts that are playing, or the acts will announce it themselves.

Mika and Lilly Allen are also confirmed to be playing I think as well.
