Well they've been strongly rumoured too! But on one of the sites where all the festival info is (the name escapes me at the moment) it had a list of some of the artists that were rumoured to be playing and one of the rumours was Snow Patrol and they're not confirmed to be playing to hopefully The Arctcics will be as well. :cheer:

Seems like it's gonna be a busy festival for The Arctics in 2007! :D ^_^

I'm hoping 2007 will be a good year for them as well. :D ^_^

I mean i'm unsure on the album and how it will be recived though. I mean it's obvious if it doesn't seel anywhere near as much as their debut did then people will say, "Oh they're gonna be dropped. It's sold awful compared to the first album" etc etc, but well they're on Domino, which is a small label so even if the album only sold 100k it would be good.

But hopefull there festival appearances can rise sales dramatically and they can have another brilliant year again! :D ^_^

Aslong as the album makes #1 and sells a fair amount Arctic Monkeys should still have a contract, personally despite whatever reviews the album gets I still think it will sell equal to the first or even more in the long run seeing as Arctic Monkeys have such a huge amount of fans and it will sell just because it's them, they'll probably be very similar to The Killers saleswise. :)

Yeah I think it may sell similar to The Killers. A lot of it depends on the lead single they put ou though, I mean if it's not that good then it will put people of buying the album. I still think it will sell well though and more concistentley (sp?) than the first album because I think this time around they will promote the album more and release more singles off the album. ^_^

They need a very strong debut single and it would be useful if it was a fast one too, no matter what they record there are bound to be people who won't like it but at the same time 'WEPSIA, TWIN,' was always going to be a tough album to follow-up, the main point is from the sounds of things the band are having fun with it which is always a good thing because sometimes if a band try too hard they might end up making a worse job of it in the long run.

Yep. As long as they think the album is good, and they've put the right amount of time and effort into it then it SHOULD be good. I'm always cautious of bands/artists that try and follow up albums too quickly but then when I think about chances are they'll have been working on songs for the album for the best part of 18 months. :D ^_^

Well if I remember correctly Arctic Monkeys were actually working on their follow-up quite swiftly after the debut album was released were they not?

Yep I think they were. Or it might have been before because they'll have finished the album around September // October time I think at least.

Do you think they will release 2 singles off this album before the albums release like they did with the previous one? Personally I think they might just release one before the album release seeing as Arctic Monkeys are established artists now, however I think it would be wise to release 2 singles before the albums release seeing as if the first single doesn't get a good impression they've always got a 2nd one. I'm still wondering whether 'Leave Before The Lights Come On,' will be on it.

I think they'll go for just the one off the album before the release. With the debut it had sold LOADS and well there wasn't really much point in releasing anymore singles off it, as they probably woudln't have done the album much good so they may as well start of their follow up.

I personally don't think LBTLCO will be included on the actual album, although it may be included as a bonus track, but we shall just see. :D ^_^

The Ordinary Boys included 'Boys Will Be Boys,' as a bonus track on their latest album so maybe Arctic Monkeys will include 'Leave Before The Lights Come On,' as a bonus. :) It was obviously just an attempt at a cash-in for TOB though.

Yep it sure was for TOB. I dunno whether The Arctics will go down the route though. I guess only time will tell.

If Arctics did it though it wouldn't seem as much of a cash-in seeing as the song isn't actually featured on their debut album and it was a single anyway, however maybe they want to not remind people about it seeing as it only managed to chart at #4 compared to their previous #1 singles.

Yep LBTLCO did kinda break the trend of #1 singles. I was sure it was gonna be #1 as well. :(

'LBTLCO,' would have been a #1 single though if it was based purely on physical sales alone, that's why it annoys me a lot when people say that no-one's bothered about the band anymore.

Yep it would have done. :( TBH I don't think they'll ever get another #1 single again because of the whole download only rules because acts on smaller label REALLY suffer when it comes to downloads.

  • Author

I still think Arctic Monkeys may manage to get another #1 as indie artists seem to benefit from downloads on the whole. :)

Well some do. :P The likes of Razorlight, The Killers etc etc seem to do VERY well on downloads. :D ^_^

I am hoping that despite Arctic Monkeys being on a slightly small label they will still manage to get sucessful singles in the future, if it's going to effect them though it will effect Franz Ferdinand too won't it seeing as they're on the same label. However, FF aren't really that sucessful singles wise as it is anyway.
