Posted February 4, 200718 yr Formed in 1981 Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe have had a string of hits from 1986 till today. They have consistently produced catchy, melodic synth-based pop songs that have enjoyed both critical and popular success around the world. Hits like West end girls, Opportunities (Lets make lots of money), It’s a sin, Always on my mind,. They even resurrected Dusty Springfield’s career with their collaboration with “What have I done to deserve thisâ€.
February 4, 200718 yr I love them. :D I got introduced to them properly when I bought Pop Art, I really love Flamboyant, Always On My Mind, It's A Sin, Being Boring, I Wouldn't Normally Do This Kind Of Thing and Domino Dancing. I got the recent album Fundamental and love that too, I need to indulge in more of their studio albums sometime.
February 5, 200718 yr Nothing wrong with the Pet Shop Boys - I'll nominate 'Suburbia', 'It's a Sin', 'Left To My Own Devices' and 'Domino Dancing' as must-hears. I'll be very happy never to hear their cover of 'Go West' again though.
February 5, 200718 yr "Always On My Mind" was a great cover, and "West End Girls" is my favourite original song. They've done quite a lot of good stuff, so I don't feel guilty about liking them at all!
February 5, 200718 yr Britain's best pop band... perfect, from the gorgeous sleeves to the incredible production to always being forst to work with the hottest new remixers and video directors... I can't wait to hear their forthcoming work with The Killers... and isn't it refreshing to hear they turned down Britney Spears last week... because they simply don't think she has any quality songs :D
February 5, 200718 yr and isn't it refreshing to hear they turned down Britney Spears last week... because they simply don't think she has any quality songs :D The Pet Shop Boys have worked with (produced, written for or remixed) Liza Minnelli, Dusty Springfield, David Bowie, Madonna, Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Blur, New Order, Boy George & Tina Turner to name a few. As you can see Britney is not of that calibre. I still rate their second album 1987s Actually as their finest effort, although 1990's Behaviour, 1993's Very & 1988 Introspection run it close.
February 5, 200718 yr IMO they really haven't made a duff album - in fact, the 2 that are regarded as their weakest - Bilingual and Nightlife - are two of my favourite PSB albums. And the PSBs, along with Fundamental are, once again, missing from the Brits nominations... no best band, best single or best album.... Pet Shop Boys must rank with Depeche Mode as the most criminally (and consistently) overlooked of all the UK acts eligible for Brit awards. The best video compilation available on the market is surely their PopArt collection - each video is brilliant, a perfect time capsule of the trends of the era they were released.
February 7, 200718 yr Pet Shop Boys, Is it cool to like them? isnt the new Robbie single she's madonna something to do with them??? if so totally not cool!!!!
