February 4, 200718 yr Chartifacts (thanks to Gavin Ryan) Hinder retain the No.1 spot in Australia for a second week with the "Lips of an Angel" single. As I mentioned last week, they are from Oklahoma City, and I researched that the last performer from that city to hit the Top 10 was back in August 1991, when Color Me Badd hit No.4 with their first single "I Wanna Sex You Up". The biggest climbers within the Top 10 this week are The Fray who's second single "How to Save a Life" jumps from 10 to 6. And speaking of No.10, it's this weeks highest new entry point, as the debut single for 17 year-old New Yorker Gia Farrell debuts at No.10 with "Hit Me Up". She is currently working on her debut album, has been singing since two, professionally since eight, has performed on stage in "Guys and Dolls", and recently signed a modelling contract with Planit M Modeling. The track is taken from this week's No.8 album, the soundtrack to "Happy Feet". Cassie hit No.12 last September with "Me and U", and this week she charts her second single "Long Way 2 Go" at No.24. The previously hit No.97 in the US, and reached No.12 in the UK last October. Due to debuting at No.23 on the Download chart, Augie March's April 2006 single "One Crowded Hour" re-enters the Top 50 at No.29 this week. This is a new peak for the song, having previously reached No.33 last June. Four piece South-London Art-Punksters The Bloc Party debut at No.37 with their first Australian single "The Prayer". It debuted at No.13 in the UK this week, and is from their forthcoming second album entitled "Weekend in the City". Muse debet with their second Top 50 Australian single "Starlight" at No.46 this week, as they tour the country as part of The Big Day Out, and it's parent album "Super Massive Black Hole" jumps from 38 to 25 this week. Last week Snow Patrol became the longest running No.1 by a Scottish act on the album charts, but that wasn't hard as their only competition was from Simple Minds' single week No.1 album "Glittering Prize-Best of". So this week they retain the top spot for a third week, thus increasing their lead on the Scottish theme. Debuting at No.2 is the third album for Norah Jones, "Not Too Late". Her first album "Come Away With Me" debuted on the charts in June 2002, eventually reaching No.1 for nine weeks from the 10-Feb-2003. She followed that up in mid-February 2004 with the No.2 album "Feels Like Home", and now three years late (and in February again) she debuts with her third solo album. She also appeared as a guest vocalist in 2003 on the Peter Malick Group album "New York City". With her latest single sitting at No.2 for a second week (Say it Right), Nelly Furtado's former Top 10 album re-enters said Top 10 at No.6 this week. Also re-entering the Top 10 are My Chemical Romance's "The Black Parade" at No.9. The only other new album to the Top 50 this week is Britain's No.2 album of the past week, "The Good, The Bad and The Queen" by The Good, The Bad and The Queen, which debuts here at No.36.
