LOBBLOG!

So here is the first of my band’s blogs… This one is from my very good friend and guitarist Richard Lobb… enjoy!

So…music, friends, and life on the open road – what more could a man want? Well, the privilege of being asked to write the first Lucie Silvas band blog, that’s what! I was afforded that honour in the absence of any other sucker who was willing to pour out their heart to the unforgiving ocean they call cyberspace. I mean, once it’s out there it’s not coming back is it. Can I handle the pressure? Who knows…

Anyway, Holland has been fun. They do great cheese on bread.

I don’t really know what makes it so good, but they just always seem to get the cheese/butter/bread ratio spot on. And the beer’s good too. I’m sure the stem glasses and massive heads wouldn’t go down well in the UK but I love it, and if that makes me a bit of a girl then Sue Me. Oh…I’m going for a run now with Graham (Lucie’s other guitarist). Back in 25…

Right, back. That was surprisingly OK. On the rare occasions that I run on my own, I tend to give up after about 10 minutes and walk home. I did think I was going to pass out on about the 12 minute mark, but I focused, pushed on and am a better man for it. I did nearly get killed by a Dutch cyclist, but that’s what happens when you partake in dangerous outdoor activites.

Lovely canals too…

Slept pretty well on the bus last night. A bit cold, so I did have to wear my socks, but a fine sleep nonetheless. Watched about half and hour of “Just Friends†before turning in. Left at the point when the main bloke (Ryan Reynolds) is strapped to a stretcher which slides down a slope, throws him about 20 meters into the air and lands face down in the snow, breaking all his teeth in the process. Nice…

In Groningen tonight, just preparing to rock the Oosterport. Pretty cool venue, with very comfortable orange seats. Come to think of it, the whole place is a bit orange really, or is that just my tinted shades? Just seen Laura wearing an orange dress too – now there’s a coincidence. Lucie is applying her make-up. Everyone else is doing various things on the internet. Jon is looking at houses for sale in Nashville – you can pick up a lovely 5 bed for just under 2 million dollars – “I’ll have two please!†I’m now listening to “Poses†by Rufus Wainwright as I write. Wonderful song. Actually it reminds me of being in LA with Lucie last January writing songs for her album – we seemed to have this song on the car stereo most of the time.

I think I’ll wrap this up for now. I’m going to get my guitar and warm up a bit before the show. Really looking forward to this one – I think we’re gonna rock. Until next time, shalom!
